Sullen Boy cont. (untitled)
by Ash

He always loved to star gaze.  For as long as he could remember, he'd
been out there  staring into the beautiful emptiness of space.  It was
happiness at its purest form.  The thought sometimes bringing tears to his
eyes.  How could something be so beautiful in such a cruel and ugly world?

He wondered if anyone else could see what he saw in the beautiful sky.
If one other person in the world had put their busy life on hold to marvel
at
the beauty of nature.  Maybe someone somewhere was falling in love under
that
sky.  It would probably last forever, he thought, as someone who could pick
out the delicate extravagance of a sky like that could probably find their
one true love.

He sat gazing. By this time he had forgotten how cold he was, waiting
there, and why he was waiting.  He began to think, snapping himself from the
bizarre unsettling universe he had drifted to and back into this.

"I'm alone," he said in a weak voice, less than a whisper.

He stood watching the sky in a dead silence, as if it were going to
respond.  He felt a tear run down his cheek, warm in the cold breeze.

"Perhaps...," he stuttered, tears now streaming down his face
"...perhaps
this is how its meant to be."

He sat there for hours, eventually laying himself on the cool earth.

He rose to watch the sun rise and felt the immense pain of an unknown
loss.
