The
Bulletin of the Huguenot Society of South Africa is published annually
and contains articles which focus on the history, heritage and genealogy
of the Huguenots, and specifically the Huguenots who settled in South Africa.
Articles on the family history and genealogy of Huguenot surnames appear
in the bulletin. A CD containing all issues of the Bulletin since the first
issue of 1963, until 2004, has been made available.
Since
1994 the Bulletin focused in consecutive years on some or other Huguenot
family. The following surnames have since been treated: Marais (1994),
Cilliers (1995), Viljoen (1996), Joubert (1997), Malherbe (1998), Cronjé
(1999), Retief (2001), Fourie (2003) and Buys (2004). The 2002 issue contains
papers which were delivered at the 3rd Intenational Huguenot Conference
which was held in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek during 2002. Other Huguenot
surnames which are often featured include Jordaan, Malan, De Villiers and
Naudé.
The

De
Villiers Family Genealogy on CD
The
De Villiers Family genealogy in South Africa Vol 1 + 2 was originally published
in 1997, and is based on research started by the pioneer South African
genealogist Christoffel C. de Villiers, and continued by the legendary
prof Con de Villiers. The latter left his research to the Huguenot Memorial
Museum in Franschhoek, where the monumental work was completed by
Juna Malherbe and Alet Malan. The original print was soon sold out, but
has now been made available on compact disc format and contains details
of more than 20 000 De Villiers names and more than 10 000 spouses. The
CD is in the Folioviews format which includes a powerful search engine
to facilitate searches to particular individuals or other names.
The CD is available at a
cost of R250.00 ($42.00) + postage and packing (within the borders of South
Africa R20.00 - all other destinations $7.00). Contack the Huguenot
Society of SA for details of payment.. |
