Successful Fashion Show Raises Thousands
April 15, 2005: Fashion Gives, held on April 14 by Help Us Help the Children, was a huge success. More than 300 people attended the fashion show and silent auction, raising thousands of dollars to provide supplies and aid to orphaned children in Ukraine. The night was full of fabulous fashion, cutting-edge music and modern dance at the Mod Club on College Street in Toronto.
The fashion show featured designs by Betsy Johnson, Girl Friday, Ross Mayer, Areta, Lady Stardust, and Roma Rush shown by celebrity models including Much Music VJ, Sarah Taylor; reigning Miss World Canada, Tijana Arnautovic; and Toronto-area models Marie Nicola, Yasmin Ali, Yara Cottrel and Natalie Mec. The show was opened by the University of Toronto dance troupe, "The Silhouettes."
The evening also included a silent auction with exciting items like Toronto Raptors tickets, cellular phones and a professional makeover. Also up for grabs were many unique collectibles including paintings by Ukrainian orphans and items autographed by newly-elected President of Ukraine, Victor Yuschenko.
