Hokubu makes up the northern half of Gertan Rin, being composed of mainly trainers using the Best types of Pokemon. Its sister half of Nanka is longer, whilst Hokubu is wider. Hokubu (meaning north in Japanese) is most respected for its B trainers and Pokemon.

Hokubu hosts two of the three Badges of the PMD*2 (Precious Metal Division*2) while Nanka hosts only one. However: Nanka's Platinum Badge holder is Ber and tougher to beat than the holders of Hokubu's Gold and Silver Badges. Getting any of these Badges is extremely tough.

Whilst famous and respected for its rough and tough trainers, Hokubu is also famous for its metal mining operations and natural element counts. Bronze, iron, and other minerals are mined here, some of which are used in the making of Poke'Balls.

The somewhat large island of Scissor sits off the north-eastern coast, out from the Scissor Sands Beach. Scissor Island rests in the eastern section of the Acrid Sea, being the only island part of the Nanka portion of Gertan Rin. This island is rarely visited, due to the extreme seas around it.

The Gertan Rin Safari Zone (between Shrapnel and Trident) houses quite a few different species of Pokemon; Lickitung, Kangaskhan and Yanma being some of the most rare, while others like Rhyhorn, Golbat and Beedril are prominent. These Pokemon are sometimes very skiddish, so approaching one or throwing a Poke'Ball without first checking the identity is not recommended.

Hokubu's Javelin Town is home to Professor Paulina Pine; the Pokemon Professor responsible for handing out beginning Pokemon. She tends to forget quite a bit, but is also very perseptive. She's more experienced than most at her game, but can appear quite bubbly on first introduction. She is little sisters to Professor Joseph Palm*3 of Javelin Town, Hokubu. The four beginners to choose from in Hokubu are Smoochum*4 size="2" , Elekid*5 size="2" , Magby*6 size="2" and Tyrogue*7 size="2" . Gertan Rin is the only sector of any League permitted to have four main beginner choices.

Have something you would like to add here? Have something you think I should add here? Let me know!

*-Scizor: #212; The Scissors Pokemon - It swings its eye-patterned pincers up to scare its foes. This makes it look like it has three heads. Its wings are not used for flying. They are flapped at high speed to adjust its body temperature.

*2-PMD/Precious Metals Division: The 3 hardest Badges on Gertan Rin to earn. (Gold, Silver & Platinum). Designed to keep weak trainers from filling up the Rainbow League's records.

*3-Professor Joseph Palm's older brother.

*4-Smoochum: #238; The Kiss Pokemon - Its lips are the most sensitive parts on its body. It always uses its lips first to examine things. It always rocks its head slowly backwards and forwards as if it is trying to kiss someone.

*6-Elekid: #239; The Electric Pokemon - It rotates its arms to generate electricity, but it tires easily, so it charges up only a little bit. Even in the most vicious storm, this Pokémon plays happily if thunder rumbles in the sky.

*7-Magby: #240; The Live Coal Pokemon - Each and every time it inhales and exhales, hot embers dribble out of its mouth and nostrils. It is found in volcanic craters. Its body temperature is over 1100 degrees, so don't underestimate it.

*8-Tyrogue: #236; The Scuffle Pokemon - It is always bursting with energy. To make itself Ber, it keeps on fighting even if it loses. Even though it is small, it can't be ignored because it will slug any handy target without warning.

Disclaimer: Sorry, I don't own Pokemon, nor do I own anything affiliated WITH Pokemon. So there.
