Warner have announced the details for the Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone DVD this morning in an unprecedented, web-only live event. It will be released on the 28 of May (in the US) at a retail price of $26.95, in separate pan & scan and widescreen editions. Each version contains the same features, including the full feature on disc one (the widescreen version in 2.35;1 anamorphic) along with English and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround and subtitle tracks. Disc two goes fully interactive, where "the movie is just the beginning." Avoiding the more traditional DVD features (such as audio commentary) the film is much more geared towards its young prime audience. In addition to never-before-seen footage especially selected by the filmmakers, the fully animated, 3-D menus will guide you through a plethora of interactive features and games, including new interviews with director Chris Columbus and producer David Heyman, a "360-degree Self-Guided Tour of Hogwarts" via your remote, the "Learn How To Play Quidditch" original montage with Oliver Wood and Harry, the "Catch A Snitch," "Have A Wand," "Create Potions," "Sneak Past Fluffy and Other Challenges" and "Be Sorted By The Sorting Hat" games, and "Meet The Ghosts Of Hogwarts" and the multi-language "Harry Potter Throughout The World" featurettes. The release will also be Warner's most extensive in terms of DVD-ROM features as well, including the "Be Sorted By The Sorting Hat" game, collect "Wizard Trading Cards," downloadable extras including Quidditch screensavers, your own "Remeberall," and "Flying Owls In The Great Hall," receive Owl email, game demos, and more.
