Guidelines for the use of the Public Transport Humour Board

1) The purpose of the Board is to provide an informal social forum for
transport enthusiasts.  Messages of a humorous or non-humorous nature may be
posted.

2) The following conduct is prohibited at all times:

a)      Posting material which is defamatory or could otherwise involve
users or Administrators of the Board in legal action;

b)      Posting material which unfairly discloses aspects of  the personal
life of identifiable individuals;

c)      The use of names which are already in use by another person, other
than for the purpose of parody; and

d)      "Spamming" or otherwise rendering the Board unusable.

3)  The following conduct is discouraged:

a)      The posting of  surnames or other personal details of identifiable
individuals;

b)      The posting of material (eg nudity) not appropriate for viewing on
workplace computers; and

c)      The posting of messages which are not intelligible to the average
Board user of reasonable intelligence.

4)  The deletion of material referred to in clause 3 is a matter of
Administrative discretion. Factors to be taken into account in exercising
this discretion include:

a)      whether the material has been the subject of specific complaint;

b)      whether the material was posted anonymously;

c)      the number of posts involved; and

d)      the prominence and date of the posting.

5) Administrators shall post an explanation on the board for deletions
carried out pursuant to clause 3.

6) Users may be banned immediately upon a breach of clause 2 or upon the
giving of two warnings for breaches of clause 3. Warnings must be given
publicly and specify the offending conduct.

7)  The Administrators must respect freedom of speech and only censor
material where a clear necessity has been established. The fact that a board
user is controversial or unpopular, without more, is not grounds for
censorship. Further, the fact that a post may have the tendency to offend a
particular person or a particular group of persons is not  per se a
justification for censorship.
