 | A book about the languages, their origins, their structure, their similarities and differences. An interesting book about Linguistics.
I think this is a nice book everybody should read. It is not intended for teaching a specific language but it is nice to learn about the basic linguistic concepts. Furthermore, this is a book that you can really enjoy reading. Its style is very good, there are a lot of nice comic strips inside. And of course there are good chapters about semantics, the structure of languages and processing of languages by machines. I bought this book when I was determined to develop a computer program that understands natural languages. I never started this program but, years after, I still think I had picked the best book to start with. I advise it for all AI students and everybody who has an interest in languages. |
