The authors receive an invitation by Prof. Katsuhiko Kondo (Hiroshima University, Japan) to hold a lecture on Australian carnivorous plants (CP) at the 4^th International CP Conference in Tokyo, June 2002. Actually surprised, they agree and get ready for a first encounter with the Japanese way of live, indeed different for Europeans.

However, after the arrival in Tokyo they soon face the kind hospitality of the Japanese and especially of Prof. Kondo and his Organising Committee. At the beginning of the conference a second surprise takes place, when Prof. Kondo asks Siggi to produce an official video-report on the whole event. Thanks to a high quality projection equipment at the conference hall, the "video-shooting" results in pretty good pictures. The authors then describe the making of the film, and the challenge to achieve an appropriate sound quality, thus providing also short summaries of most of the lectures, hold by prominent speakers from all over the world.

Some more impressions around the conference hall at the National Science Museum, and the nearby part of Tokyo are described as well.
