Particle Physics
(This story has appeared previously in Full Circle, Huron High School's yearly Book 'o Art.) I have always admired Isaac Asimov; his books fill a good portion of my shelves, and I return to them every so often for a quick read. On the Division of Labor is, in fact, an imitation of his work. Asimov wrote, by and large, three types of Science Fiction: The novel, the short story, and the mini-story (often less than two pages long). Though his novels have made him famous, though his short stories solidified his contribution to the SF genre, it is his mini-stories that I enjoy imitating the most. You see, Asimov wrote only one type of mini-story--and it is a very easy type to imitate. |
