Ben Yates comments on Particle Physics

In ninth grade english class, for an assigned character sketch, I had begun a short piece on a skater punk who was also interested in science and philosophy. A year later, in creative writing, another sketch was assigned, and I pulled out the old drafts for inspiration. It worked - for a bit. I muddled around in scenic description and the like until finally realizing that it would be much more interesting if the main character hid his intelligence. From there, the stroy wrote itself - slowly, and into a dull and uninspired piece of crap. After re-inpiring myself by reading snippets of excellent 8th-grade writing, I rewrote Particle Physics paragraph by paragraph into the dazzling work of literature before you.
