For the first one, I paint primed it black and then heavily painted it metallic black. I painted on the triangles (I forget what that particular type of cross is called) on in white and then line it blue.

For the second one, I paint primed it white and then dry brushed it red. I wasn't too worried about it being solid red, as it would appear to have battle damage. I then doodled some stuff on in black.
