I spray painted the (disassembled) mini with a coat of grey primer and then a heavy coat of a "true grey" base. I then dry brushed it where I desired with a dark coat of "metallic gunmetal gray". The similiar grays don't stick out especially, but they give the desired look that I was going for. The gun ports and missile bays were painted in gold, to make them stick out and to give a little contrast. The `mech's face was painted silver and white to make it stick out. I then assembled it, applied some water slide decals and attached it to the base. The base is made of wood as I was running out of resin bases; plus I like the bigger bases for the larger `mechs. The base was filled in with sand grains and rocks. When all was set, I applied a coat of glaze to protect and seal it.
