Evaluation Scenarios

The evaluation scenarios described in this chapter use an Apache server as the software application that is managed by Moonlight.

There are three Web servers (targets) that are hosting your company Web site - one in San Francisco, one in New York, and one in Seattle. Each Web server is running Apache, although the Web site content and the server configurations must be slightly different for each site.

Moonlight can be set up to monitor any part of the server configurations, but for the purpose of this evaluation, Moonlight is managing two software configurations (models) on these servers.

The Apache model manages the Apache server software, configurations, and content for each site. The Security model monitors the sbin directory on each server, which contains important system-level utilities.
