Tim's Comments: Solenopsis has a very distinctive two segmented apical antennal
club. This is most visible in the front view of the alate female reproductive. This
species is also known as the thief ant or sugar ant. It is often found inside another
ant species' nest, where it steals eggs and larvae for food. This species is also
frequently found inside houses.
