THE IMMORTAL
By MohammedulBakir N Khanbhai.
Ever since Allah denounced the disobedience of "Shaitan" and counted him away from His favors by throwing him out of the Heaven, the devil has tried his level best to misguide the averring human race. So, Allah sent the Perfect Religion of Islam, through one of His favored Prophet, Syyedul-Ambiyah Mohammed-ul-Mustafa (saw) to save human beings from lustful trap of Shaitan. After the death of Imam Hassan (as), the devil played in such a way that the signs were apparent for the religion of Islam to be wiped out from the face of this earth.
At such a fearful time, the Noor of Allah was saved by the greatest selfless sacrifice of Syyedus-Shohada Imam Hussein (as) and his seventy-two bravest followers. Yezid at that time was deeply involved in every act of Shaitaniyat viz. Drink, gambling, cheating, adultery, backbiting, to name but a few. Islam that contradicted hi every distasteful act was not to his liking and therefore he wanted to remove it from the minds of people of the time. He knew that he could only do this if he can totally ammoniate Imam Hussein (as)--the perfect epitome of a true Muslim. He tried this by sending a troop of thirty-one thousand against what he thought a negligible number of Seventy-two at the battle field of Kerbala. He also presumed that by the brutal killings of Imam Hussein (as) and his followers he would destroy Islam and Imam for good. Alas! His hopes went to pieces. Imam Hussein (as) made the foundation of Islam and Imam so strong by giving away everything he had that will never rock again. One may well ask what proof is there to back such statement? There is an undoubted proof that even though a near 1400 years have passed from the time of Kerbala, the word of God Almighty has spread over so fast that wave after wave, every nation has accepted and is still accepting Islam as the perfect religion; a religion which was and is most practical to every nation on this planet. Moreover, Muslim and non-Muslim alike take a joy and pride to be a believer of Imam Hussein (as).
No other mortal is remembered so much as Imam Hussein-bin-Ally (as).Instead of diminishing, the revered memory of Imam Hussein (as)is doubled year after year. Why? Because Imam Hussein (as) showed us the right path, the path of truth. He awakened our souls to be consciousness of Allah's love and care, this grace and mercy and his power and justice. The ultimate result is that we bow before Allah in the act of worship, becoming aware of our smallness and His Omnipotence. This consciousness of ours is made more poignant by the knowledge that even in the face of immediate death-whilst his throat was under the blunt dagger of laeen Shimar (LANATULLAH) Imam Hussein (as) remembered us, his ummat and prayed for us and sought our salvation Oh! What a prayer! What a sacrifice! No wonder, even Allah could not remain silent any longer and uttered these words from Heaven. Hussein you have won. Yezid (lanatullah)desired to suppress the Truth and to indulge in take satisfaction of his own evil selfish motives. Imam Hussein (as) did not allow him to do this. Imam Hussein (as) submitted to Gods will and showed what a true Muslim should be like. He taught us a number of "Muslim virtues, a few of which are
:1)Faith, hope and trust in God;
2)Devotion and service in life time;
3)Love and practice of truth, in thought and by actions;
4)Patience in suffering and in observing Siratul-mustaqim-the right path;
5)Humility and superiority;
6)Charity;
7)Self-denial and
8)Obedience to God’s will. Typical examples being, As-habe wafadar of Imam Hussein (as) refusing to leave the side of their Master of both the worlds’, Imam Hussein (as) until death. Also Moulana Abbas' (as) refusal to drink water at Nehre Furat. Also Imam Hussein (as) refusals of food when Allah made His last test by sending an angel in disguise of a miskeen.
All these virtues of Imam Hussein (as) were inherited by Ayyube-Kerbala Imam Ally Zainul Abedin (as) and the Imam that followed him until the twenty-first Imam, Imam Tayyeb (as) who on accepting seclusion handed over the heritage through the grace of Syyedtena Hurratul Maleka Arwah binte Ahmed (AQ) to the Dai-ul-mutlaks. The present Daiul-Mutlaq being the pride of momineen, light of all knowledge and religion, the true Dai of Imam Hussein (as), Abul Qaid Johar Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS). May Allah give him a very long life and may we always remain blessed with the noble teachings of Imam Hussein (as) through him-AMEEN. He is the living example of the immortality of Imam Hussein (as).
In conclusion, when Imam Hussein (as) was left alone in the battlefield of Kerbala, all the angels with the permission of God Came to offer their services. Alas Imam Hussein (as) was not moved. In return he inquired about Allah's wish and abided solely by His wish. No wonder, one of the great Muslim poet has said-
"O, you mortal being,"
"Try to make yourself so great,"
That before writing your destiny,
"Allah asks your own permission."
Through this pious messages of the Holy Quran, Allah swore of that time of "ASRI" and said that-
"Verily, man's lot is east destruction, save those
who believe and do things which be right,
and enjoin truth and enjoin steadfastness on each other
Yes, Hussein-ibn-abitalib (as), you will always be remembered through the annuals of ages as
