ex-JŽ Class 444

These locomotives did not run with JŽ before the breakup. They were intended originally for the Sardinia network of the Italian Railways, but after the electrification plans fell through, the locomotives were put into storage. They were on test in Hungary in the summer of 2001. After Hungary decided not to purchase them, some were sent to Yugoslavia for trials, and a sale tender was apparently concluded following the successful tests. Due to political reasons, the deal fell through, and the locomotives were returned to Italy, where they sit out of use in Foligno and Livorno.
