DOWN BY THE CREEK
Down by the creek, out back , you know.
It's the place we used to go.
And I still do,
It reminds me of you.
I can see you standing there,
In the jean shorts you used to wear.
And that halter top that barely covered.
And I soon discovered,
You were the only girl for me.
I fell so easily.
Now your gone and I stand alone.
Don't know where to write or even phone.
It's not fair the way you walked out of my life,
I had visions of being man and wife.
I still see you lying down,
Making flowers into a crown,
That looked like jewels a queen would wear.
My eyes could only stare.
But when I reach across to touch your skin,
I have that feeling once again.
The emptiness takes control, I can't break free.
You've still got control over me.
Don't you ever even want to come back?
I fell my heart get one more crack.
And soon it will fall apart for sure,
Your my only cure.
Please come back to that old creek,
Out back where we used to sneak.
I'd kiss you and you'd splash me.
We'd run till we got dizzy,
Then fall to the ground in a laughing heap.
And we'd stay there till we fell asleep.
I loved you then and I love you now.
If I could just tell you somehow.
I'd convince you my love is strong,
Together, I'm sure, we belong.
I'll be down by the creek, out back, you know.
It's the place we used to go.
And I still do.
It remeinds me of you.
