A LITTLE BACKGROUND

I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. Everyone knows everyone else. I like that. It's like the story goes, you don't have to use blinkers in this town, cause everyone knows where you are going. You can set your watches by the people who get their mail at the post office. Certain people come at certain times of the day, every day. I think it might be the security of knowing what is happening, even before it happens here. Well, most of the time anyway. It's the close knit family type relationships that I treasure. Both old and new. I married after graduation to a man who went to the same school. We have 4 wonderful children. They range from age 16 to 18 months. Two boys, two girls, respectively. I had dreams when I was younger of having 12. I think I watched the movie "Cheaper By The Dozen", "Yours, Mine and Ours" and "With Six you Get Eggroll" one too many time. Anyway,
I started writing poetry around the age of 10. (I have always had a very good imagination.) Several times throughout my life, people, circumstances, or events, gave me inspiration to write different types of poetry.
Please try and look over my grammar and punctuation, and even my spelling at times. I don't do well in that area....
I suppose that my writing helped keep me sane through the insame times of my life. Now, keep in mind, some of these writings are not about me, but of people or situations I had come across. Others were subjects that I was given to write about. I hope you enjoy them. I do write under my pen name from High School . . . Leslie Sue Ashley.
I am a Christian woman, and I believe writing is the gift God has given me. I know that God gives us all talents of different kinds. It is my hope that everyone will live up to their God given potential, whatever it may be.
I express myself through the pen, when speaking fails me. I feel that God speaks to us all at different times in our lives. I know that throughout mine, God has always been there. Good times and bad. Whether I wanted Him there or not. Whether I knew it or not. He pulled me through the "fires" that I encountered plus a few that I set myself. If I can quote my favorite poet correctly....

NOT IN VAIN

"If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain:
If I can ease one life the aching.
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again.
I shall not live in vain.
Emily Dickinson

That is my hope. That I can somehow spread God's love to at least one person. No matter who. I feel that is our duty in life.
