Do you get tired of paying $5.00 a page for fax service at truckstops? Windows 95, 98 & NT includes a program called Kodak Imaging where you can cut and paste information into an existing document on your computer.
Example: You accept a load from a broker you haven't hauled for before. They need you to fax them a copy of your authority and insurance, sign a contract with them and fax it back. It usually amounts to a minimum of $10-$20 in fax charges. Try it this way instead: Before you leave home make sure you have saved a faxable copy of your authority and insurance on your laptop. |
If you have a fax machine and two phone lines at home you can fax it to your laptop, or you can pay the local bank a fee if necessary. Also, on a blank white piece of paper, sign your name in a variety of sizes and fax that to your laptop. Make sure you remember what you saved these as and where.
Next time you need to fax someone a copy of your authority and insurance, you can either connect to a land line or to your cell phone and fax them out. You can also have them fax the contract to your laptop, use Kodak Imaging to insert your signature of the appropriate size, and fax it back to them.
