Lt. Mao'Syllis received a parting gift from the new acquaintance she
made on her last day on DS101. Dr. Jason Connor of the Yeager sent
blackcurrant juice to her quarters. Lt. Dennis Hanson, the ship's
new FO, and the CEO Gabriel Pelgrims also recovered from their night
in their respective quarters as they prepared to depart.

Speaking of parting, Cadet, now Ensign Nim Lister said his goodbyes
to the crew with which he has spent a long and arduous time. The
crew wishes him luck.

Captain Canon commanded the departure of the USS NIGHTINGALE from
Deep Space 101 with Captain Alyza's clearance. New FO Hanson
attempted to get comfortable as he ordered the helm to take them
into space in anticipation of some trial runs with the newly
refitted equipment.

First, the crew tried out their new warp capabilities. All went well
until a series of strange malfunctions sent engineering crew
scurrying in futile attempts at repairs. The test ended with
Pelgrims and Kort sustaining minor injuries, and Mao'Syllis seeing
conspiracies rooting back to DS101.

Later evaluations conclude that the mysterious malfunctions are the
work of none other than pesky Cardassian voles. Of course, Mrell is
everyone's first thought, and slyly adds to their suspicion. Really,
though, the Voles could have come from Lyrr II, DS101 or another
possibility. Whatever the cause, Canon and crew divvy up ideas on
how to eliminate the varmints, and come to the conclusion that iso-
linear tags would be safest. This would result in the voles being
transported to a cargo hold and hopefully, the end of the
infestation.

Meanwhile, Jake Stevens comes to the realization that he will now
play a secondary role to the new Dr's wife. He seeks counseling to
overcome his sudden lack of confidence.

The crew of the Nightingale continued to hunt the pesky voles.
Ensign Nimrook Lister returned as the `Gales new Chief Security
Officer, a position left open when Hanson took the FO position.
Captain Canon put Lister immediately on the vole-hunting job.

As CEO Gabriel Pelgrims tried to work through Nim Lister's vole
exterminating suggestions, Debra Michaels came to Pel to express her
concern for his well-being.

Lt's Mao'Syllis and Pelgrims took a moment to eat dinner and get
away from the vole hunting and ship repairs. Pelgrims continued to
act strangely.

FO Hanson conducted the crew in `bag and tag' exercises.

Lt. Mao'Syllis tells Lt. Pelgrims to go blow off some steam.
Pelgrims continues to act strangely.

Hanson, Lister, and Gecko continued to blast voles and corner some
into a corridor. Lister got the idea to seal off the voles escape by
igniting plasma from a ruptured EPS conduit. The trick worked, but
also worked on CEO Pelgrims nerves. He ignites at the new Ensign. FO
Hanson goes to Gabe's office to find out why Pelgrims is so moody.

In the holodeck, Dennis comes to understand Gabe's pain better as he
witnessed a recreation of the death of Pelgrim's fiancé. Seeing the
shuttle accident again brought back painful memories that sent
Gabriel back further into his painful existence. Gabe decided to see
a counselor and then get some much-needed sleep. Dennis leaves his
friend alone and goes back to vole hunting.

Lt. Hanson laughs at all the damage the voles have caused. Gabriel
Pelgrims return to help and contributes the idea to shut down as
much energy producers on the ship as possible to divert the
Cardassian vermin toward a single power source. He, Syllis, and
Hanson appear to "make up".

Syllis and Hanson compete for who can tag the most voles. They then
make final arrangements to remove the infernal pestilence, hopefully
permanently. Syllis and Hanson begin shutting down various areas of
the ship. The crew manages to divert the remaining voles into one
area of the ship. Then Mrell comes to Canon with an idea as to how
to get the voles off the ship.

Ensign Lister enters the room to join Hanson and Syllis as they wrap
up the vole problem.
