Hyde is the beauty queen vocalist of L'Arc en Ciel, it seemed time was kind enough to never leave any trails of aging on his face. Hyde is a little color blind, and he's addicted to cigarette (20 everyday at least), resulting that he had to have an operation done during 1999. He also loves to gamble. During lives, he always seemed to be wearing the same styled clothing, with fluffy coat.

Before joining L'Arc en Ciel, Hyde was a drum teacher. He once formed his own band, Jerosme Rods, and was the guitarist. Because they were still students, the band didn't last long till everyone quit. After disbanding, Tetsu asked him to form a band with him together as the vocalist. Hyde, at first, thought Vocalist is a really stupid position, his dream was becoming a guitarist. But now he thinks so no more.

Hyde is very talented, almost all of L'Arc en Ciel's songs' lyrics came from him. Other than singing, Hyde can also play guitar, drums, and saxephone.


Hyde's Childhood

Hyde's born in Kansai, he's the only child in the family. Because his mother had always wanted a girl, so she always dress her son with girl's clothing. When Hyde started going to kindergarden did he realize his strange clothings. In the kindergarden, girls always used pink pencils and lunchboxes and excetera, while boys used blue or green ones. He started to think, why am I using red ones then?

At that time, one could barely tell that he was a little boy, especially with the fact he cries easily, he's always mistaken for a girl. Also, in kindergarden, Hyde had his first love. He had a friend, Te chan (not Tetsu...), and both of them fell in love with the same girl, she had big eyes and was indeed really cute, her name was Tomo. Hyde and Te chan each drew a picture of Tomo, and promised to never show it to anyone else, it was their secret. But in the end Te chan betrayed Hyde, he showed the picture to his mom.
