After 1998, Ken's completely gave up his pink lip gloss and make up, and during concert, the cigarette never left his mouth. He's the soul of L'Arc en Ciel, about 80% of the songs comes from his hands. Maybe he gives you a look of a big boy, but as for his songs, if you listen closely, you'll realize they're full of meanings and emotions.

In school, Ken was a top student, but by looking at him now, you can barely tell if he has finished highschool. But of course, by his songs, you'll know that he's background isn't that simple.

Ken got in university, majoring in Architecture. His parents were very proud, the fact that with his studies, finding a stable job isn't hard. But just a few days before Graduation, someone called him and shattered his parents' dream completely - Tetsu. Through the phone, Tetsu said their guitarist has just left, and whether he wants to join, that is, if he still plays guitar. If Ken wanted, he can finish school easily and find a job within days. But is that what you really want? A voice asked somewhere deep inside him. And being pushed again and again by Tetsu, Ken was finally persueded. And thus, without telling his parents, Ken quit school.

Knowing what their son did, Ken's parents were shocked, but they're even more angry. They declared that if that's what Ken wanted, then he can do whatever he wants, but that means their relationship are over. He never has to come home again, they dont want to see him. Their neighboors recalled his parents saying. Tetsu always went home, his parents would talk about his career, too. But Ken has never returned since then. Maybe he thinks his parents are still mad, and still can't accept him. Wish he could take a little attention from his music and put it in his family, and put his energy now and childhood memories together, and let it be a topic they can chat about when he finally returns home.
