Ur Ur has been attributed the phonetic sound of U. The word means drizzle or rain. In Old English this rune was called "ur" which meant ox or bison. In Germanic this rune was called "uraz" which also means auroch. The other variation upon the word you may come across is "uruz". The Danish Younger Futhork had no variation on Ur, is remained the same as that of the Elder Futhark, representing auroch and power. The Swedo-Norwegian Younger Futhork had other ideas.
