Hype Williams is one of the worst things to come around
in music video in years. Every single video is the smae damn thing every time.
Here's how to make a hype Williams vide: take about four seperate sets, put
dancers in each one with matching outfits (s iny ones,) make some stupid action
movie in between these scenes that makes no sense and use a wide angle lens ALL
THE TIME. I seriously don't get it, Hype Williams is not a good director, his
videos are usually an incoherent barrage of visuals which used to be cool (back
when he did "woo-ha" with Busta Rhymes) but have grown very tiresome. The main
problem with Hype Williams is that if he ever wants to do something that isn't
just a bunch of dancers, he over-directs it, letting the style step on the stori
s toes (take for instance Usher's "Nice and Slow" where a simple scene of a gang
of guys getting out of a car is turned into a overlap-fest, making it annoying
to look at, or Busta Rhymes "Dangerous" which is just horrible, if it's supposed
to be exciting it's too exaggerated and staged horribly, if it's supposed to be
funny, Hype Williams should stop doing comedy IMMEDIATLEY.)Hype Williams thought
goes squarley into visuals, and not the concept. You get the feeling Hype
Williams wants to do a million thi gs at once, and gets so excited with these
prospects that he just does. He hasnt learned the art of subtlety, much like a
thirteen year old kid playing with a video editors lame-ass video effects. The
worst part is, every other hip-hop video director is r pping off Hype's work, so
now, not only does Hype Williams overkill his own work, every other director is
doing the same thig so that every time you turn on the MTV, every video is the
exact same thing. Hey Hype, you know my favorite video of yours is? th one with
the fish eye lens nd the extreme color scheme, you know the one with all those
dncers- oh waith I just described EVERY VIDEO YOU'VE EVER MADE! It's called
creativity, look into it.

Hey, what's up fellas? I just wanted to let you guys know
that I admire your creativity and imagination. The videos are great,
unbelievable! Well, Im majoring in mass communications at North Carolina State
University and I want to get into the directing business, not necessarily music
videos, but I would love to do that later on too! I'm thinking maybe starting
off in camera work, then working up to commercials, then music videos, and then
hopefully directing my own motion pictures! I took a media course in high school
and produced highlight films for sports, videos to promote busine ses, promote
our high school... etc. I was just wondering if you guys knew of any work, maybe
internships or something, that would be available. I mean, if ya'll ever needed
any help around the studios or anything, like any odd jobs, I would be willing o
try and help out. I just want to be around the environment that you guys work
in, I wanna see the hard work that it takes to put something together like a
music video. I know u probably think this is a joke, but its not, I really do
want to work in th s field, I mean I enjoy it so much. Well, I know u guys are
probably real busy, but if u get a chance could u guys write me back. Oh yeah, I
also work for the video crew for the athletics department here at school, but
I'll be playing football next year so I don't know how long I'll have this job.
