The LTD Zone!

My previous 85 LTD LX 5.0 HO

HEAR THAT?
That's POWER, baby!
Yes, I am a computer nerd, and no, I don't have a life =Þ The door to my garage is right near my computer, so I stuck the computer mic out the door and revved the car (my previous LTD LX). You should be hearing it right now (or soon -- it's an 80K file). If you don't hear it, or god forbid you want to save it, the file is here.

WELCOME TO THE LTD ZONE! I have created this site as a reference point for owners of Fox-platform 1983-1986 Ford LTDs and Mercury Marquis'. Thus, most of the links and things on this site are dealing with these cars. However, there are some links relating to all LTDs (including full size ones, right back to the 60s) and other Fox-platform cars except Mustangs. I now own my second 85 Ford LTD LX 5.0 HO (highly modified), which is obviously the reason I created this site. This page is a link page where you can choose where to go, including other parts of my site.

I have decided to make navigation a little easier with the following menu which will take you directly to certain parts of my page:

News - Auctions - My car - Videos - LTD/LX articles - LTD links - Contact me

NEWS/UPDATES: (12/22/02)

Click the pic for a few more pics of my new LTD LX (no, it's not the same car pictured up top).

I figure I'll leave the pics of my new car up top for a while.

The SVT LTD is going well. It's still basically the same as when I bought it. The only things I've done to the car were replacing one of the exhaust manifold gaskets that was leaking (that was a bit of a pain in the butt), and buying an extra set of wheels (Eagle Cobra replica 17X8s powdercoated black) which fit the car better so the tires don't rub at all. Eventually I'll put sticky rubber on them and use em for racing. Also, in the picture of the wheels you can see I painted the grille black. I got a good center console for the car (thanks Brian!) since mine is all cracked up, but I need to get it recovered and install it.

Speaking of racing, I took the car down to the local 1/8 mile dragstrip, which is actually a portion of Qualcomm Stadium's parking lot blocked off. It ran a disappointing 9.82 at 74mph, which is equivalent to low 15s in the 1/4. But traction at this track is notoriously non-existant, and the car is good for much better times if I either get stickier rear tires or learn to launch it better. I have to practice a lot more since this is my first RWD manual trans car, and launching with the clutch will take some time getting used to. 1st gear is basically useless at that track!

Finally, if you have a good internet connection and want to see a cool video of my LTD, check out The Disk. My friend wanted to try out his new on-car camera mount, so my LTD became the guinea pig, and he made a short little plot out of it. You can see some neat angles of my car that not many other people would have of their car.

MINI UPDATE 1/7/03: I added another factory brochure to the LTD Archive section. I also updated the Videos section. Some dead links changed/removed. Some other small changes done.

AUCTIONS:

From time to time I'll find an LTD LX or a LTD cop car in the junkyard and will scavenge some parts from them and sell them on eBay for a little pocket money. Better than sending them to the crusher! Click here to see my current eBay auctions. Not all is LTD stuff, but take a look anyway.

VIDEOS:

These links should finally work! I have a small collection of videos of my previous LTD LX.
Me vs. Integra at Qualcomm 1/8 mi. (Windows Media file).
Me vs. Z28 at Qualcomm 1/8 mi. (Windows Media file).

Finally a small set up video of my new LX called The Disk.
