Go back! Fly With Me

Fly With Me

By Meredith Boyer and Megan Glass

Come fly with me

On wings of cardinal red

Across the ‘mighty river’

To a place named for a king

And rightly so! For it is gilded with

Culture, laughter and life

We’ll venture to the city – center of the sports life

Scalpers call out from the corner

While the smell of the ballpark/stadium/arena

Assaults your nose

Peanut shells crunch underneath your shoes

And a steaming soft pretzel melts in your mouth

Sit on a hill of blueberries

Snack on incomparable squares of pizza

Baffle an outsider’s mind with toasted pasta

Pay homage to the beer king

Eat dinner on the Italian side of town

Then enjoy a foreign film at the Tivoli

Youth wait on the curb to partake in a pageant

Or if rock isn’t your style, Powell may be your delight

A show stopping tune will be found at the Muny

Where Broadway meets the great outdoors of Forest Park

The park holds worldly treasures of the ancient art museum

And the world famous zoo that’s been free since it’s beginning

As you can see, St. Louis

Really is the gateway to the west

The west where Hollywood is

So many have gone to represent us

Goodman/Cedric/Nelly all made their mark

Forever placing us on the map

Sunny days, Mississippi Nights

Something to do at every hour

Shaw’s Garden in the rain or shine

The scenery’s always perfect

The City Museum’s caves and tunnels

Entertain for hours never wanting to leave

St. Louis is still alive and fun

Even since the past

The ghosts of the world’s fair

Still roam through the market/station

And even on art hill

Enjoy yourself
