The topic that I have chosen to write about as my thesis, is one that emphasizes my skills in realistic digital model texturing. The texturing thesis will focus on my technique and workflow in the creation of metal and cloth. The next crucial step in realistic textures is wear and tear, dirt, deformations and discolorations. I will cover the most common element, dirt (i.e. grime and dust). By completing my texturing thesis, I hope to hone my skills in these areas as well as discover the patterns in my technique and reveal the workflow to myself. One very common method of texturing by professionals in the industry is the use of photo manipulation and photo overlays. Photo overlays are often done in the beginning as a template and afterwards for color variation and slight pattern discontinuity.
