My daughter, little CAT, was born on 3-26-2005.



My Mother gets to see her far less often than she'd like, but she still lives, silently, with my Father.



My Father also see's my daughter sometimes, but so far has not wanted to hold her, or wondered why we do not spend time with him.



If he ever asks, I do not know what my answer will be.



Probably something like "If you ever wonder why I do not allow you to hold her, think of how you held ME when I was young" or, if I'm being mean, "Why don't you ask Mom? SHE knows..."



(sigh) I probably can't do the second. My Mother would be furious at me the rest of my life. I do love her, and I honestly do not think she was ever aware of any problems when I was a child, so I don't think I could do that to her.... Even tho her wanting to be with my father badly enough to have limitted access to me and her first and only granddaughter, whom she dearly loves, really hurts me.



My daughter is 14 months old now.



Things are going OK as they are for the moment, but I dread when SHE is old enough to realize she's supposed to love/want her Grand-dad too... And her father and I will have to come up with some way to discourage any interest in her part of staying overnight with grandma and grandpa, or any other normal grandchild/grandparent relationships that we'll have to nip in the bud.
