The Spirit of Abortion in the Church

I have failed to listen to the Christian radio station very long, without eventually hearing the passionate cry of a preacher against the sin of abortion. Certainly abortion (the taking of a baby's life while in the womb) has to be one of the most savage and hideous of crimes against humanity. It is "preying" upon the most helpless of God's creation. The slaughter of a wonderfully precious gift. A butchery of the truly "innocent".

God warned his people not to "shed innocent blood". An unborn child is surely the most innocent of all beings, and thus, the act of abortion is the ultimate in wickedness: "Keep thee far from a false matter, and the innocent and righteous blood slay not: For I will not justify the wicked" (Exodus 23:7).

God hates abortion, and the hands of all who participate in it: "These . . . things doth the Lord hate: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood" (Prov.6:16-17). Shedding innocent blood always resulted in judgment upon the kingdom of Israel. Manasseh was destroyed because he shed "innocent blood" (2 Kings 24:4). Saul was reproved by his son Jonathan, and removed as king because he was out to "shed David's innocent blood through his unwarranted hatred (1Sam.19:4-5). Joab, one of David's mighty men was eventually put to death by Benaiah for shedding the innocent blood of Abner (1Ki.2:30-34). God's command has not changed for the righteous of our generation: "Put away the shedding of innocent blood!"

"So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord" (Deut.21:9). The way we stop shedding innocent blood is to do right in the sight of the Lord. Or, as John the Baptist said, "O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee the wrath to come? Bring forth fruits worthy of repentance" (Luk.3:7-8).

Firstly, we must repent of the natural, medical process of abortion. In this nation, and around the world, the innocent blood of millions of aborted babies screams to God for vindication. But a greater "cry" than this is reaching the ears of God: the blood of those innocent ones being murdered by the church's sin of SPIRITUAL ABORTION. And friend, the church's hands are stained red from the countless souls we have slain! May the holy Spirit open our eyes to see it, and open our hearts to repent of it!

A human child is conceived in the womb through man's "seed". The Bible refers to man's "seed" as the means of reproducing and continuing family. Much respect is given to the "seed", but the "seed" is not life. In the spiritual life, the "seed" is the "Word of God". We are conceived (born) . . . "not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God". Jesus also confirmed that the "seed" was the Word of God in his parable of the sower (read Mat.13:3-23 for more on that subject). God's Word is the "seed" that starts the spiritual process of life in every soul that hungers to believe: "For faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Rom.10:17).

As Jesus taught in his parable of the sower, the hungry heart receives the Word of God by believing. At that moment, the seed is "sown" and conception occurs; just as the seed of man conceives life in the mother's womb. But the baby is not born yet, for birth is another experience altogether.

The baby must still grow and then after much struggle, come out of the womb at birth. Abortion is the act of another who destroys the "seed" while in the womb before it can come forth to life. In the same manner, ministers and preachers today perform spiritual abortions in the lives of the "innocent". Those conceived by believing the Word are being taught that they are already "born", and then left to "die in the womb" without ever receiving the spiritual life of God!.

Jesus said a person must be born againto enter the kingdom of God. When does spiritual birth occur? Is spiritual birth the moment a person asks for forgiveness? Is it the moment one is water baptized? Is spiritual birth the moment on "accepts Jesus" as their Lord? Is it the moment one joins a "church"; or the moment one "feels something inside"? Is the new birth something that is "received by faith", or does God give us a way to know that we have truly been born again?

The scriptures are very clear as to when and how one is born (spiritually). Jesus said this birth was being born of the Spirit (John 3:5, 8). Paul told us the moment of spiritual birth is just like a natural birth: "But ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God" (Rom.8:15-16). As in the natural, the first sign of spiritual life is the "cry of life"! In the spiritual person it is "the cry of the Spirit", which is what happens when one is baptized with the holy Ghost, as evidenced by speaking with other tongues. It is the Spirit that makes us children of God, and only the Spirit: "Now if any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his" (Rom.8:9).

Perhaps the greatest sin of the church in this hour is the spirit of abortion among us. It is when a minister, or any other person, tells a hungry heart that they have been born again without receiving life by the baptism of the holy Ghost! This is abortion!

A perfect example of abortion can be demonstrated through a true story (though I have changed the victim's name), which I believe is common in the lives of countless new "believers", whose blood is not on the hands of Christian "abortionists".

I met Chris at a park one day while we were out sharing gospel tracts and preaching to passersby. He took one of my tracts and said "thanks". There was a helplessness in his eyes. He mumbled something vague about his problems and walked away. As he was leaving the park, the holy Ghost prompted me to go after him, for I felt that if I did not, Chris might not live very long. After I caught up with him, and asked him if he wanted to talk, he poured out his heart. He told me that he was in fact, contemplating suicide. He felt there was no hope for him. He had lost everything, and was now on drugs. But we agreed to pray and ask God for help. As we did, tears began to roll down his cheeks . . . God was touching him. It was an undeniable work of God in Chris's life and he knew it. He started coming to the small services we held for the homeless and drug addicted people of the area.

After a while, Chris's life turned around dramatically. He fell in love with the Bible, and was reaching out, and bringing others to the services. You could see the change in his life. But Chris knew something was missing, for his experiences were "up and down". People all around him were telling him he was "born again" because of his love for Jesus, and the changes they saw. But Chris was struggling to "come out of the womb" into a life which he did not yet have. The Word had been sown in his heart, but he had not received the "spirit that quickeneth" [gives life]. Chris would come forward to pray for the baptism of the holy Ghost, but could not "press in" to receive it. Why? Because well meaning, but spiritually ignorant people around him were telling him he already had the Spirit because he had "accepted Jesus". They were telling him that the experiences he had already were greater than the real Spirit his soul was crying out to receive! Chris is being aborted! He is one of multitudes that are attempting to live for God, while never emerging from the womb. It is impossible to live, while still in the womb.

Where is Chris today? He is going from place to place looking for life. But in every "church" (which are not really what they call themselves), he is told by abortionists that he is safe already. Chris needs the truth, and I can only pray that he has an experience with the real Spirit, which can "make him a child of God through the power of believing in Jesus' name" (John 1:12).

Friend, spiritual birthoccurs the moment one receives the holy Ghost! If you have been told there is another way, you are receiving the doctrine of the master abortionist himself - the spirit of Antichrist. Any "spirit" that has come into your flesh without "confessing" (in stammering lips and other tongues), is a spirit of Antichrist: "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of Antichrist, whereof ye have heard that is should come, and even now already is it in the world" (1John 4:2- 3)

Notice that John said every "spirit" that confesses when it comes in the flesh is the real spirit of God. We know that many people may confess all sorts of things about Jesus, and not be his at all. But when the Spirit comes, it "bears witness" with your spirit through tongues, that Jesus has come into your human flesh. If you were taught that you have the spirit without the confession of tongues . . . you are being "aborted"! You have been conceived by God's seed (his Word, received by faith in Jesus Christ), but if you did not receive the baptism of the holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, you have not yet been "born of the Spirit". It is only this confession of the spirit that testifies to us, and to others, that we are truly under the Lordship of Jesus: "no man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the holy Ghost" (1Cor.12:3). Isaiah said tongues was the evidence of "true spiritual rest" (Isa.28:11-12). Peter said tongues was the evidence of God's Spirit in the hearts of men (Acts 2:16-18). Zepheniah said tongues was the only way we could truly "call upon his name" (Zep.3:9). And Jesus himself said tongues was the "sign which follows them that believe" (Mark 16:17).

To teach a person that they are "born again" without the "one baptism" (Eph.4:5), "that can save the soul (1Pet.3:21), is nothing more than spiritual abortion. The seed of faith which was planted in the womb has been snatched away by the wicked one. A hungry soul has ceased pursuing the "promise of the father", the birth experience needed to enter into the kingdom of God: "For the kingdom of God is not meat nor drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the holy Ghost" (Rom.14:17).

Many so called minister have blood on their hands, and will be held accountable by God. Any pastor who preaches against the sin of earthly abortion, but teaches that a person is born of the spirit without receiving the holy Ghost, is the greatest of hypocrites! He has aborted every innocent soul under his ministry which has not received the baptism of the true Spirit. His hands have "shed innocent blood"! Because of precious souls like Chris that are being aborted, and in the end, destroyed, I make no apologies, but utter this cry: Repent and believe God!
