As the story goes on, she finds the balance between rules and freedom, and also has cleverer and cleverer tricks up her sleeve, if against intrigues. And she is an amazing rider! :) |
| Deep inside Franz loves freedom and life's simple joys as much as Sissi, but as the crownprince of Austria, he has to hide these emotions. With Sissi he can be more of an ordinary man, and that life seems to attract him more than his duties in Vienna. He too looks for the good qualities in people, and tries to make the right decisions. He also proves his bravery many times. |
| From the first look you know, that Karl is going to play the "best friend role". Though he would love to imagine himself in a more important role in Sissi's life, he does not lower himself to Helena's level, and - sometimes with a little sadness maybe, but - he helps Sissi and Franz, if he can. He has not such a strong character as his brother, but that's simply because he wasn't born to be emperor. Almost gets to marry Helena a few times (poor guy... :) |
| Helena, the daughter of General(later Marshall) von Grossberg also lives in Schönbrunn. The arogant miss loves herself very much and likes to ensure her own comfort. Probably because the empress never had a daugher, Helena managed to insinuate herself into Sophie's heart, and would not give that up, especially for someone, who is unworthy of the rank 'future empress of Austria'... She is a fan of ribbons. |
| Empress Sophie has a commanding look, which seems also cruel for the first time. The empress is trying to do her job well, but has full trust for Cancelor Zottornick, who usually advises her the wrong way. She has always imagined Helena as her daughter-in-law, but since she had to accept that Franz chose Sissi, she is doing everything so that the bavarian country girl learns protocol properly. She is quite fond of the Zaniouchka circus. |
| Count Arkas wants to get Possenhofen from Duke Max. He wants it so bad, that he follows Sissi to Schönbrunn, to Paris and even to Ahriman island to cause trouble. He does Zottornick's dirty work without gaining any reward or the chancelor's trust. However, the count is cursed with bad luck. He falls of horses, has his boats sunk, is hit by opening or closing doors and even falls in love with Sissi without knowing. The only reason why he is dangerous is his persistence. |
| The advisor of the empress takes benefit of his situation. His greatest desire is to be the one and only ruler of Austria, no matter if the path leads through ruining lives or treason. He controls events through Sophie from behind - that is brilliantly reflected in the animation by his shadow. He is the brain behind most of the schemes, which makes him probably the most intelligent character. He also has a fanatic lust for war. |
| Sissi's father is a real adventurer and a survivor. He goes to risky secret missions sometimes abandoning her family even for months. It's not that he doesn't care for them though. He travels to Hungary to help the revolution against the austrian ascendancy. No wonder that he is a bit shocked, when he first hears Sissi's future plans.. |

| Tommy is an orphan, who was taken care of by the Brauner's - a family on Arkas' land - before getting to Duke Max' house. He has a little squirrel, Crunchy, whom he takes everywhere. He is sly as a fox and has many good ideas to help his friends. He is devoted to Sissi and he is doing everything to put a smile on her face even in the most desperate situations. He is also a little match-maker between Sissi and Franz bringing them together time after time. |
