Dear Parents;

It's great to be back where I belong :) Thank you all for your interest in my Grandchildren and the trip itself. I had a wonderful time. As I've told many of you it was more than just a trip to visit my family. It really was a spiritual journey as I wrote about 'pictures' from my past for a EFM class that I am taking thru the Church.

I wanted to thank Mrs Woertz, Mrs Dumpke, and Ms Missy for being here when I could not be. They did a great job. I've only heard outstanding comments about the children and you all should be very proud of them. I know I am.

Well, what a great time to be alive. This is my favorite time of the year. We will be starting a long unit on the farm, farm animals, harvest, and then into Thanksgiving. It will be a lot of fun. This week we will be focusing on Pumpkins and a little on Jack-O-Lanterns. In order to bring a spiritual view to this subject, Mrs. Woertz has lent me a wonderful book called
"The Pumpkin Patch Parable" by Liz Curtiz Higgs. It would be a wonderful addition to your family library. I will not be talking much about Halloween but will review safety rules for trick or treating.

Be sure to have your child check out the
'kids' links this week. I've encluded many fun places to go to learn more about pumpkins.

Also, be sure to look over this week's
lesson plans. That will give you an idea as to what we will be doing.

I will be sending out an information letter to all the parents who signed up for volunteering in/outside the classroom. I am excited and so thankful for your support and help.

And I would just like to say how impressed I am with all the children. They are really moving along in their learning. As we review the letters learned thus far they are doing just fine and as we begin more fine motor work, they are right on target. It's always great to review and to practice, but I feel they are all on a wonderful beginning for a great year!

Aloha,
Mrs. Schaefer
