Mya Helps Teens With Self-Esteem - R&B singer Mya is known for her petite figure and good looks. But the 21-year-old knows many girls are unsure of themselves. That's why she's worked for the past three years with Teen Esteem, a group that tries to boost the self-esteem of young women.``All females especially - even males today for that matter - deal with insecurity about body image and the way one looks,'' Mya told AP Radio during a visit to a Chicago middle school Tuesday.``Unfortunately, our society focuses a lot on what we look like instead of our skill.''Mya, whose ``Case of the Ex (Watcha Gonna Do)'' was a recent top-five Billboard hit, said many girls she works with have negative feelings about their bodies.``Some of these feelings can lead to sicknesses and overeating, undereating, anorexia, bulimia, a number of things that affect the future and health of a young girl,'' she said.
