CHAPTER 29

Brian brought out two plates and set one before Skye and one in front of his place in front of her then walked out again to return with a bottle of red wine. He poured them both a glass and sat down in front of her giving her a huge smile when he did. Skye couldn’t help the giggle that escaped her. He looked just like a kid in a toy store for the first time in his life.

“This is beautiful Brian. Did you make this all yourself?”

“I did,” he beamed.

On their plates was a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. “I’m impressed. You outdid yourself.”

He reached across the table and took her hands in his. “For you my Angel, I would do anything,” he smiled, but there was a hidden meaning in his words, but she didn’t know if she was ready to hear them just yet. Right now she wanted to forget about real life and pretend they lived in a world of their dreams.

Brian sensed her reluctance to discuss their situation just yet, and he could wait. After dinner would be ample time to discuss his idea. He liked the idea of continuing this romance further.

The meal passed by and Brian brought out dessert. Skye laughed at his look of anticipation at her approval. Cheesecake decorated with chocolate and strawberries. The thoughts rushing through Skye’s mind were not pure and she had a hard time keeping a normal face.

“Lets eat this out on the deck,” Brian said to her. “The coffee is brewing.” He held out his hand and led her out the back, the two of them sitting beside each other closely.

Skye looked at him, feeling herself falling even deeper in love with the man in front of her, if that was possible. Her heart was aching at the thought of not having him by her side, but she knew it was going to happen. She shook herself mentally, out of that frame of mind and scooped a piece of cheesecake onto her spoon, moving it up to Brian’s lips. He smiled mischievously and opened his mouth to take the proffered delight, poking his tongue out to do so. She couldn’t help herself, she moaned with need and took the spoon away, putting the plate beside her. She reached up and lay her fingers gently on his cheek. Her heart was pounding now, and her breathing erratic.

“Brian…”

“Shhhh!” He kissed her softly. “Skye, I want you so much. But we have to talk.” He took her hand in his and kissed her knuckles. She could feel his aura all around her, enveloping her. It was a welcome feeling that put her at ease completely. But still she hesitated.

“I don’t want to talk Brian. When we talk I have to face the fact that this won’t go on. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and I don’t want to lose you and I am scared something will happen if…”

“Shhh!” he repeated. “I might have a solution. Well, for the short term.” His fingers rubbing over her hand was distracting her.

“Tell me Brian. What can we do?”

“Well, It’s not the perfect solution by any means, but when do you begin to teach again?”

“In two weeks. But…”

“Okay, so in two weeks time you go back to work.” He contemplated that information and Skye was quiet while he thought. “I go back into the studio in 3 weeks.” He saw Skye open her mouth to speak and he put his finger to her lips. “Recording is erratic. Sometimes we record for a week in one stretch, other times we have long breaks.” He looked at her to see if she understood him, but she still looked confused. “Recording can take months. We have no set date we plan for the new CD to be out, so it might be a good while.” He thought he saw a glimmer of realisation in her eyes. “So in the meantime, whenever I have time off from recording, guess where I will be? ”

“Here? With me?” Skye asked, her spirits lifting.

His smile said it all. “Where else would I be but with my Angel? Skye I want to be with you every spare minute. The times away will be torture, but don’t you think they will make the reunions so much sweeter?” He was rewarded with her own mischievous smile. “Of course the only problem will be somewhere to stay. I can’t ask Daniel to keep this place for me any longer.”

Skye hit him on the arm and he laughed. “You know where you will be staying, and it isn’t here at Daniels place.”

“Now Angel, where will I be staying?” he asked laughing. She mumbled something he didn’t hear properly. “Skye! Did you say something about your bedroom?” He laughed.

“I might have,” she winked at him. He acted suitably shocked then laughed with her, happy that things seemed to be looking up.

“So what do you think? When I am busy weekends I will fly you down or across or whatever to be with me. Do you think we could manage that sort of relationship?”

“Brian, what choice do we have? Other than giving up my job and joining you or, she shuddered, “not having a relationship, and I am not prepared to do that.” She looked him straight in the eyes. “Yes, I am willing to give it a try.”

“Well, I can’t ask you to give it all away as much as I want you with me. It wouldn’t be fair of me to ask you or expect you to do that.”

“But Brian. What about when you begin to tour. How far apart would our visits be then? People have changed their lives for love before. I wouldn’t be the first one to do it and I won’t be the last. Remember what Trevor told me in one of his appearances?” Brian shook his head, clearly not remembering. “He told me that I had to take a chance on life and not sit here waiting for it to happen. I know what he meant now and I am willing to take the chance.”

Brian was quiet for a while before he spoke. “Skye, there is no need for you to throw it all away. Why don’t we see how my solution works? If it doesn’t then we can try something else. When the tour is about to begin, we will then have to think of another plan. But why don’t we give this a try?”

Skye sighed as she thought. “This is definitely different to the life I would have had with Trevor.” She told him and he stiffened. “No Brian. I don’t mean that as a bad thing. I mean, with Trevor it would have been the so-called normal existence of working 5 days a week, and coming home in the evenings and having the weekends for relaxation. With you it will be not so normal, but every bit as exciting and,” she snuggled into his arms further, “exactly what I want.” She looked up into his eyes. “I can’t imagine my life without you in it and if this is the only way for now, then so be it.”

“It will work Skye. We’ll make it work.” Brian wrapped his arms around her tightly. He inhaled deeply, sighing as he breathed out again. “I’m never going to get enough of you you know.”

Skye smiled at him and sat back in his arms. As much as she wanted to give in to their desires right now, she had to think. They both had to. She reached down and picked up her cheesecake again, this time eating it herself. “I’ll go get the coffee,” Brian said to her.

Reaching up for his arm she put her cake down again. “No Brian. I don’t want coffee. Just sit with me.”

He smiled almost sadly. “I’d rather take you to bed.” He chuckled as he saw her eyes widen with surprise then turn a deep honey colour with desire. He held out his hand to help her up and pulled her into his arms. “I need you Skye.”

“I need you too Brian.”

Brian led her into his bedroom, his eyes never leaving hers as he backed his way in. They both climbed into the middle of the bed before their lips found each others, leading to a heated kiss of desire. Her hands stayed on his face when they moved apart. She needed to touch him, to keep reminding herself how much he meant to her. There was no doubt in her mind he meant the world to her and she had to do anything to stay with him. His plan for the next few months would work, they would both make sure of it.

That night the two of them had identical dreams. Two stars floating in the sky, separated by miles of empty space, and without warning coming together, fusing to form an inseparable union. Through stormy skies and bright sunlight they remained united still shining brightly until together they shot into the sky cascading into a rainbow of colour. Three ghostly figures followed the stars, smiles on their faces as they hovered above the ocean. Walking along the beach below Brian held Skye in his arms as they watched the brilliance of the show above them. They looked at each other and smiled, aware of the turmoils the two stars had overcome, aware that they two could overcome anything life throws in their way. Turning toward them the three ghosts looked at them and waved. The three spoke as one. “Together you can do anything.”

Skye’s eyes opened to find Brian looking at her intently, his blue eyes that had started it all for her in her dreams so long ago telling her everything was going to be okay. He kissed her then, softly, sweetly to let her know everything would be okay, they would work it out together.

“This is the beginning isn’t it?” Skye asked him suddenly.

“Beginning?” he asked, though he knew exactly what she meant.

“It’s the beginning of reality isn’t it? Our dreams brought us together and we have lived a perfect romantic dream so far. From now on it is reality.”

Smiling down at her softly, his lips mere inches from hers. “Angel, reality will be every bit as wonderful as our dreams. If not even better.”

He kissed her then, silently promising her he would do everything in his power to make their life everything she deserved. Their dreams would not compare to what real life would bring.

Maybe a Sequel... Stay tuned!
