CHAPTER 5

All day they had rehearsed their new song and Brian felt worn out. He stood at the large windows of his room looking out over the city his mind buzzing with thoughts and worries. Normally he would prefer not to stand so close looking down, but the sights in front of him were insignificant to the stresses he was feeling. The sight in front of him blurred. It had been a hectic day and he wanted to blank it all out. Right at that moment, if he heard the words ‘Drowning in your love’ one more time he was going to scream. There was no love in his life right now and to be singing about drowning in a woman’s love because it was so strong felt wrong to him. He craved that sort of love.

He sighed to himself. Maybe with him being as stressed as he was right now it was probably a good thing he wasn’t involved in a relationship. He didn’t know if he had a lot to give someone else right now. He wanted the sort of love he sang about, one where he felt he was drowning in love, but he knew that love wouldn’t be forthcoming while he was in this state. Maybe his dream girl would have to satisfy him every night for now.

He turned from the window rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand and he sighed again. His Honey Eyes would tolerate any mood he was in. Anything could happen in his dreams and he felt the sudden urge to lay down in his lonely bed to fall asleep and dream about her. Readying himself for bed he thought about her. It was as if he knew her already and he wondered if he would ever find such a person in real life. Not his actual Honey Eyes, but someone like her in so many ways. Maybe once he had recharged his batteries on the break they had coming to them in a few weeks he would be able to pursue the relationship he so craved.

Brian was swimming, his athletic arms gracefully gliding through the cool water of the ocean. He had been swimming for a long time, his mind and body not registering time or distance. His arms were not sore and he felt like he could swim for miles, his legs moving with ease to aid his movement through the water. He felt a freedom he hadn’t felt in a long time and a feeling of power and independence overwhelmed him. He felt as if he could take on any challenge.

A sudden feeling of déjà vu washed over him and he stopped swimming in an instant, treading water while he looked around for the reason. Out on the beach he saw her. His Honey Eyes. He was drawn to her, swimming quickly to the shore walking out among the small waves once his feet touched the sandy bottom of the ocean. She was watching him, every step he took and he saw her smile. She began to walk towards the waters edge as he got closer, magically urging her closer, closing the distance between them. All the time her eyes captivated him.

When Brian was standing in waist deep water he held out his arms to her, encouraging her to join him to float together with the freedom he had felt only moments before. But she frowned and shook her head firmly refusing to walk any closer. He frowned to himself feeling a need for her to join him buzz through him like an electric current. How would he convince her when she looked so determined not to join him? She had a look of fear in her eyes. Was she scared of him? Or was there something else?

His eyes softened and he smiled at her. He noticed her resolve wavering and he held his arms out to her again. “I won’t let anything happen to you,” Brian promised her. “Swim with me.” With those gentle words from Brian she began to take small steps into the water, slowly at first as if making sure nothing would happen. Fully clothed, her skirt clung to her legs as it began to get wet. Brian kept encouraging her with gentle words murmuring over the distance between them getting smaller each passing moment. He felt her anxiety and wondered what she was afraid of but put it aside as she got closer, her fear noticeably evaporating.

The moment her fingers touched his her eyes lost all sign of the apprehension he had seen in them, to be replaced by a trusting glow. The colour of her eyes burned into his memory, the golden honey colour a balm to his soul. She was waist deep in the water in front of him now and he pulled her closer in his arms. She smiled again and he felt himself drown in her gaze. The words to the song began to play in the air above them and he smiled back at her. This is what the song meant.

No words were spoken between then, they seemed unnecessary. Looking into her eyes for a seemingly endless amount of time Brian felt an overwhelming urge to kiss his girl, to feel her full red lips on his and even in the cold water of the ocean he felt his body stirring. Slowly, almost agonisingly slowly, he lowered his lips down to hers sighing deeply when they were within inches of touching. He gave her one more smile noticing no hesitation in her eyes and closed the gap between them.

Her warm soft lips were a contrast to his colder lips from the time he had been in the cold water. He moaned as he tasted their sweet essence and pulled away again, searching her eyes for a clue as to what was happening trying to find an explanation. The sun shone on her face highlighting her features again, her beautiful face smiling at him still. The urge to kiss her deeply could not be denied and his lips crashed down on hers again, his tongue delving deep to taste every corner, his body responding.

Floating, they were floating now, their bodies entwined as their mouths played softly over each others to begin with, then more urgently, needing to taste each other. Brian was overcome with desire. He needed this woman he held in his arms in water that was now deeper than they were able to stand in. Slowly they sunk below the surface.

Further and further down they floated, the need for breathing either not necessary or something neither of them wanted to do right now. All that mattered was this kiss that seemed endless, both of them drawing sustenance from each other. Her clothes were gone, replaces only by a one piece swimming suit that hugged her curves. As they kissed Brian’s hands were wandering over her body, feeling every curve and every mound running with wild abandon over her. When his hand found her breast he felt her moan into his mouth encouraging him further.

They were both still breathing but they were underwater. Brian pulled away for a moment to look at her again, to make sure she was acceptable to everything that was happening between them. Floating in the depths of the ocean her features were distorted slightly by the water, colour altered by the depth, but she looked as beautiful as in the open air. He was mesmerised by her beauty. Her eyes that he already loved so much radiated consent to all that they were experiencing between them.

His finger slipped below the strap of her suit and in a second the suit was gone leaving his Honey Eyes naked in front of him. He groaned to himself, noticing bubbles escape his mouth as he did. He watched her as she blushed slightly but continued to smile shyly. He looked down and saw he was naked as well and he wondered how that had happened. Colourful fish swam about them disregarding their presence and Brian realised they were now deep in the ocean. He took her hand and together they swam to the ocean floor with Brian leading the way their eyes never leaving each others.

He found an area on the ocean floor that sparkled unusually and he lay her on the glittering sand. He floated over her reaching out to touch her softly on the cheek sighing inwardly at the feel of her soft skin. Her long hair floated around her like a pillow of silk capturing the rays of the golden sun. She stirred something deep within him with a simple look, a smile, a touch of her hand. Touching her now was sure to send him over the edge. He wanted to make love to this girl and he floated closer, his body almost touching hers.

He lowered his lips to hers again and he was amazed to feel they were still warm, even after all this time in the water. That only intensified the desire he was feeling and his kiss turned frantic. He needed her more than anything.

His body pressed closer still and she lay on the glittering bed of sand waiting for him, her body inviting him to join with hers. His breathing was becoming heavy and he was gasping for air. He pressed his lips closer to hers to get some needed air. She was having no trouble breathing and he needed some help from her. Why was he suddenly gasping? Desire burnt his body as a lack of oxygen burnt his lungs. He had to make love to this woman he yearned for. He knew then he would breath again and the burning desire would be quenched for the time being. He knew though, just by looking at her and examining his own reaction, he would never get enough of her.

He poised over her holding his breath. She wrapped her legs around him urging him closer and he granted her wish. As his body raced with pleasure when they joined becoming one with each other with one long slow stroke, his breathing stopped. He didn’t want to breathe, the need to breathe secondary to anything else. But the pain in his lungs forced him to pull away. First he pulled his head away and looked at her, pleading with her to wait for him. She smiled and kissed him softly nodding her head as he floated away, clawing his hands towards the surface to reach the air. He looked down one last time and saw her slowly floating to the surface after him a satisfied look on her face. He wanted nothing more than to turn around and return to her. He reached the surface and gasped for air, his lungs burning and his body humming with desire.

**************************

Brian woke gasping for air, his body hot with desire. His blankets were over his head and his pillow having slipped over his face. No wonder he was gasping for air. He was wet with sweat, and how he had no idea but his pyjama pants were not on his body leaving him totally naked. He lay still on the bed letting the effects of the dream subside, taking a lot longer than he would have expected.

He cursed himself for waking right at that moment, right at the moment he was beginning to make love to his Honey Eyes. All it had done was work himself up to a worse level than before. He sighed to himself, closing his eyes tightly, trying to picture her face again, the smile that seemed to be the only thing to light his world right now.

He growled at himself in disgust. “Get a grip. She’s only a dream,” he berated himself. How could he be getting so worked up about a figment of his imagination? He could almost understand it if it was someone he might have met, or if it was someone famous, but she didn’t fall into that category. He’d never seen her before. She was a total illusion, a fantasy. He shook his head and jumped out of bed. Figment of his imagination or not, he needed a cold shower.

Nearly every night for the next two weeks Brian dreamt about his Honey Eyes, every morning waking more frustrated than when he went to sleep. He looked forward to his dreams, but the morning always left him in desperate need of a cold shower. It was affecting his mood through the day and he noticed the other guys staying clear of him whenever possible, saying very little when they did have to spend time together. He used the quiet time to daydream about his woman, before shaking himself out of his dreams, realising this was making things worse for himself. He had to get away, he needed some time away from everything.

Finally at the end of the two weeks he began to make plans to take a break alone. The tour was winding up and in a little over a weeks time he would be free to do what he wanted. He remembered a relative that had a beach house on the east coast and made arrangements with him to stay there for an extended period of time. He would stay there over the summer for as long as was possible. All his plans were coming together.
