Chapter 4

Brian stood, and came to Belle’s side holding out his hand for her to take. She lay her fingers on his outstretched ones and giggled. The way Brian was acting reminded her of damsels and knights in shining armour and she loved it. He wore an impish smile as he led her to a small space beside the table they had dined at. Tentatively he pulled her into his arms, loosely winding his arms around her waist and they began to slowly move to the music.

“Ah, this brings back memories,” Belle sighed looking up in to Brian’s eyes. Her mind went back to three years earlier when they were dancing at the restaurant, oblivious to anything else in the room but the two of them. Brian was working the same magical spell on her again. Her head swayed, she wanted to lay it on his shoulder, but she held back.

He knew it was an opening to talk, but he still wasn’t ready. “Oh come on, surely you have had many men dance with you over the years.” He teased. It always tormented him to think of someone else holding her, dancing with her. He didn’t even know if he wanted to know now but something made him ask.

“No, not really. None that meant anything,” she said, her eyes flashing at him. They spoke volumes warning him not to pry but still he teased.

“Come on, what about all those co-stars of yours.”

Belle sighed. “Brian, they meant nothing to me.” He raised an eyebrow at her. She was getting harassed by his teasing and he figured he better be careful.

“None of them?” he asked wide eyed. He couldn’t help himself.

“None of them Brian.” Her eyes dared him not to believe her and he knew he has overstepped the boundaries. Then she grinned. “And what about you? All those groupies throwing themselves at you. Surely you have had many dances,” she narrowed her eyes sexily, “and kisses, to tell about.”

Brian moved closer to her. Holding her in his arms again was becoming too enticing to overcome. His breathing began to become shallow and he wanted to kiss her. “None were as perfect as your kisses Belle. None as perfect as you.” He moved closer again, drawn to her, winding his arms around her waist firmly, and she closed her eyes. “But yeah, there has been a few,” Brian said, moving away slightly while he loosened his hold pretending indifference. He grinned down at her as her eyes popped open with a look of bewilderment.

“Oh no you don’t Brian Littrell.” She said emphasising each word with a stab of her finger in his chest. “You are not going to do that to me again.” Belle pulled him closer and speared her fingers through his hair pulling his face down to hers. Their lips sought each other’s out, first slowly and tentatively before greedily plunging into a passionate embrace.

Brian’s head began to swim as his body pounded with desire. This was Belle. His Belle. He finally had her in his arms again as he had dreamt about for three long years, kissing her like there was no tomorrow. He didn’t want tomorrow to come, he only wanted right now to last forever.

Their kiss held no hesitation. It held all the passion of three years worth of built up longing and need and neither one of them held anything back. Brian kept one hand tangled in Belle’s hair while the other lay on the small of her back, pressing her body into his. He was never going to get enough of her.

“ Oh God I’ve missed you,” Brian said when he pulled back slowly. His forehead rested on hers and their eyes locked, amber eyes gazing into blue, both ablaze with passion.

“Brian,” she sighed. “I missed you so much,” Belle breathed out in a whisper before his lips crashed down on hers for another passionate embrace. Endless moments passed as both were content to continue their show of affection until Belle’s mind slowly returned to the real world, slowly lifting from the sensual fog. “Brian!” she said softly.

“What?” he asked around his kisses. He wasn’t listening to her only feeling his emotions.

“Brian!” Still he kept kissing her. “Brian!” she said louder this time trying to pull her lips from his, pushing at his chest lightly. She didn’t want to stop but they needed to take a break, this was too much too fast. “Brian, we need to talk.”

He blinked and looked down at her still feeling dazed. “Talk?” He took a deep breath, inhaling her scent. That didn’t help matters and that stab of desire rocked through him again. “Talk, yes!” he paused. He couldn’t think straight while they were locked in each other’s arms. He stepped back, putting some space between them. “We do need to talk.” He still looked at her longingly over his shoulder. “I’m sorry Belle. We do need to talk,” he repeated. “Just having you here though, here in my arms, I am not thinking straight. I’ve wanted this for so long.”

“That’s okay Brian. I’m glad. I mean…..” She trailed off but smiled at him, trying to reassure him. “Come on, let’s sit down.” She held her hand out to him and he took it tentatively, not trusting himself to touch her again. She led them both to the lounge that sat in the small room and they sat not prepared to touch one another.

Belle sat looking down at her fingers twisting them together nervously as she thought about what she wanted to say to Brian. She didn’t know where to begin, didn’t know how she was going to be able to express herself.

He reached out to touch her on the arm tentatively. “Belle?” he asked quietly. She didn’t react so he tried again. “Belle, are you okay?” It pained Brian to see her look up at him with apprehension in her eyes. Unlacing her fingers he took her hand in his lifting her fingers to his lips, kissing them tenderly. “Belle, what’s wrong? Please tell me.”

Looking away she blinked quickly as if to ward away tears. She turned back and said something Brian couldn’t hear before looking back at him. “I’m scared Brian.”

“Scared?” He frowned at her answer.

“I’m scared I am going to lose you again.”

Her words were barely a whisper but they echoed through Brian’s mind loudly. He gathered her into his arms holding her close to him, rocking her gently. “Belle, I didn’t bring you back into my life to lose you again.”
