One More Day

One more day, one more time
One more sunset baby, I'd be satisfied
But then again I know what it would do
Leave me wishing still for one more day with you.

She waited behind the closed doors with all the other members of the press. Her camera was slung over her shoulder and the tape recorder was ready. They had also sent a videographer. Why? She wasn't sure. Working for one of the biggest teen magazines in the country, what could they possibly do with video? However on a personal level the video may come in handy. A half smile crossed her face. The doors finally opened and they were permitted to enter the large room apportioned for the fan conference.

It had been three years. Actually three years, two months, twelve days and six hours. She almost didn't show this morning. Why she decided to take this assignment, she was still trying to figure out. Right! He was back and deep inside she wanted one more day. One more chance to see him, talk to him. One more time to look in those luminous blue eyes that had captivated her and set her heart on roller coaster ride that she was still reeling from three years later. All men were compared to him and none measured up. She tried. Oh, how she tried. After he left she went and buried herself in her work not caring if she ever got involved again. And the few men she had dated just didn't come up to the mark. They were nice enough but she always came home empty. Memories of their time together still haunted her sleep and she knew that it was no use. No one would ever love her the way he did. And then Monday the assignments were posted. Her first reaction was to let someone else cover it. But little by little her curiosity and a deep-seated need to just see him again made her request she be given the job. So here she was. All the media were present and she could feel butterflies gather in her stomach as the PR rep came to the front of the stage.

They entered from the left. She snapped frame after frame and then he came into the viewfinder. A gasp escaped her mouth as the shutter clicked and captured his image for all eternity. It had been three years, but it seemed like yesterday. She still remembered his kiss as he left her that morning. Neither one willing to give up their quest for a career, yet their love seemed so deep, so strong. As she clicked the camera tears welled in the corners of her eyes and blurred her vision. She lowered the camera and wiped her eyes as he moved to his seat waving and smiling to the crowd. She still loved him and time and distance would never change that. They sat at the dais and the moderator began to field questions from the press and the small assembly of fans chosen for the occasion.

With the tape recorder running and two cameras snapping away, the next hour passed in a blur and before she knew it the press conference was over. They were at the back of the room when her name echoed through the empty space.

He noticed her as soon as he sat down. Memories came flooding back and he had a hard time concentrating on the questions. Most of the time the camera covered her face but he knew it was her. It had hurt like hell to leave her the last time they were together, but they both had to prove something and now three years later his career was at its highest and she was the top photographer for the biggest teen magazine in the country. But no one had made him feel the way she did. Women had been few and far between and then it was one night, and they were gone in the morning. He could feel his pulse race just knowing she was in the same room.

As the media began to disperse, he leaned over and told his cousin he would catch up with them later. Kevin had seen her too and gave him a wary look. He had to he told him even if only to say hello. Kevin nodded and reminded him about their schedule for the following morning. He assured him he would be there.

No one said her name the way he did. It rolled off his tongue with his Kentucky accent giving it a lyrical ring. She slowly turned and took in the sight of the only man she would ever love. The last three years had been good to him. His smile lit up his face and she could see those lines around his eyes that she loved when he smiled. His hair still had a hint of a blonde streak, but it was his eyes that held her spellbound. She could get lost in the depths of those blue orbs.

They stood looking at each other, neither one knowing exactly what to do, both wanting the other to speak first for fear of rejection. Her heart pounded in her ears and before she could find the words, he spoke.

"Come have a drink with me." Brian asked cautiously, not sure whether she would agree to go with him. But he had to take the chance, somehow, they were being given the opportunity and he was not about to let it slip away.

"Well, I…" She looked at the videographer.

"Go on. We're done here anyway. I can take the film and develop it so the prints will be ready for you tomorrow." He winked at her and took the film and left them.

"Okay. Where shall we go?" Her hands were clammy and her heart wouldn't stop that rapid beat.

"Just come with me." He took her by the hand and led her back through the empty room and out a back door. They took a service elevator to the lower level and Brian led her to his car.

In no time they were cruising down the Pacific Highway. It was early autumn and the sun was beginning to lower in the early evening light. About twenty minutes later they pulled up in front of a two-story structure sitting high above the ocean. Brian brought her inside. The house had floor to ceiling windows on three sides. She wandered out onto the deck. The view was breath taking for as far as the eye could see it was just sky and water.

As he came up behind her and handed her the glass of wine he dipped his head next to her ear.

"Stay with me tonight." The words sent chills down her spine. His lips trailed along her ear and neck evoking sensations that had been dormant for so long. He nipped and sucked as only he could knowing how it drove her wild.

"It's not fair you know my weakness." She murmured as she leaned back against his chest and savored the feel of his lips on her neck.

"Just like you know mine," he replied softly as he turned her in his arms.

His eyes were dark, filled with passion and she could feel the heat coil in her belly. He took the glasses and placed them on the table. Taking his wine soaked finger he ran it along her lips. As her tongue licked away the sweet nectar she drew his finger in her mouth sucking on it gently. He let our a low moan and her loins began to throb as her body responded to his touch.

"Stay with me tonight," he implored again.

"I…" His lips brushed hers and her resolve weakened even further.

"Stay. Let us have one more time." The words were hushed as his mouth hovered near hers. Oh how she wanted those lips on hers and he didn't disappoint her. Time stool still as his mouth covered hers. She held onto his shirt to steady her wavering body as his tongue slid between her lips seeking out every corner. Her tongue joined his in the sensual dance.

There was no turning back. She needed him, wanted him, craved him. Brian broke the kiss and took her hand leading her back into the house and up the stairs to the loft. In the twilight he came to her. Everything happened as if in slow motion. He kissed every exposed piece of flesh as he slowly removed her clothes.

"God you're beautiful," he hissed as his mouth left butterfly kisses along the hollow of her throat. She sighed as he continued downward flicking his tongue over her taunt breasts. Picking her up he placed her in the bed. She watched as he shed his clothes revealing a perfectly toned body. He was fully aroused and the thought just made her body hum.

He came and laid next to her letting his hands roam at will. She writhed under his touch as he awakened her sexually.

"Brian, please." She moaned as his mouth caressed her breasts.

"Please what?" He grinned knowing full well neither one of them could hold on much longer. He moved his hands down her body and slipped his fingers inside her. She arched her back and he could feel her walls contract to his touch. Without waiting another second, he slid his length inside her. They both gasped as their bodies joined. It was like coming home. It was safe, perfect, where they both needed to be. He slowly began to move inside her. Soft moans and whimpers came from her mouth as he touched every part of her. He leaned down and kissed her tenderly.

"I love you," he said. "I never stopped."

"I love you too."

His thrusts became stronger as he could feel his release build and she met each one with a seductive move of her hips. She could feel her climax rise from the depths of her body as it washed over her. As her body responded Brian let out a deep groan as his own release exploded within her.

As their breathing slowed and their sweat glistened bodies held onto each other, Brian rolled on his side pulling her to him.

"I can't let you go." He told her as he brushed a loose strand of hair from her face. "I need you with me. Stay." His mouth covered hers in a gentle kiss.

Tears filled her eyes as she nodded yes to him. They would find a way this time.
