Damn it!
Summer's almost over... it went by pretty quick. Maybe its
because I've been working my ass off at Vons Pharmacy. The
internship is going pretty good considering I have cool
pharmacists and techs to help me out =). The pharmacy
manager is hella laid back and I mean hella laid back. The
other staff pharmacist is very nice although abit stricter.
The techs are cool too especially the main tech I work with.
She's so nice and very patient with my questions and
sometimes my incompetent moments =P. The other tech is fun
to work with because he always jokes around alot. Not a dull
moment when he's around.
Working at my
internship literally slapped me in the face giving me the
realization that I don't know that much about being a
pharmacist. Also, working at the internship made me realize
that retail pharmacy isn't really my cup of tea. I
mean...retail pharmacy is heavy on the customer service and
retail side of pharmacy rather than the clinical side of
pharmacy. Dealing with the customers can be at times very,
very, very annoying. Two weeks ago I believe, I got yelled
at for something that wasn't my fault. This patient was
arguing that the pills we gave her isn't the right strength.
She said "this isn't vicodin" (referring to the strength). I
tried to assure her that it was and she wouldn't believe me.
I mean come on! I know about drugs more than her and plus
she's going against the pharmacist's judgment. There was
another time when I was ringing up a patient's medication at
the cashier. When I told him the total price, he retorted
back at me saying it was supposed to be some other price and
added the word dummy to the end of his statement. He
straight out called me a dummy! >.< I was so pissed at the
guy but luckily the pharmacist got my back and explained the
increase in his co-pay. After all that and realizing he was
wrong, I didn't apologize for calling me that. What an
ass...
