About Organics

Two Magic Words: Certified Organic

Organics can be a bit confusing with so many companies use words like: 'all-natural', 'pesticide-free', 'clean', 'free from...'. Some even use the silly argument that everything is organic by virtue of its carbon content. Simply put, things grown organicly are things grown according to the rules set forth by nature without artificial means of any kind.
As set forth by the Organic Trade Association, a certified organic grower or processor meets or exceeds rigid standards:
  1. The land must be free of prohibited chemicals for a period of at least three years prior to certification.
  2. The processor or grower must keep detailed records of everthing they do in their organic business including methods and materials used.
  3. A yearly inspection is made of all methods and materials by a third-party. It is no different than an audit.
This all for your benefit, so when you see the words, 'Certified Organic', you know that someone is looking out for you and your health.
