Pulse compression by SBS

The cartoon above shows the evolution of the light fields in SBS pulse compressor. The input pulse (green) is of 5 ns pulse duration and 300 mJ pulse energy. The output Stokes pulse (red) has pulse duration of 300 ps and energy of 285 mJ.
