Vic Cook Sensei

 

Victor Cook Sensei’s illustrious Budo career has spanned over forty years, starting training in Kendo in 1962. In that time, his distinguished achievements include:

 

Kendo: 4th Dan ZNKR.

Won the Japan Airlines Cup on three occasions and runner-up twice between 1968 – 1974.

Won the Sir Frank Bowden Taikai 1970

Has represented Great Britain in Kendo

Retired from competitive Kendo in 1985 due to a neck injury.

 

Iaido: Commenced study in 1968

7th Dan Renshi ZNKR

Is Iaido Bucho in the British Kendo Association and GB Squad Manager

International Referee and Grading Panellist

 

Jodo: Commenced study in 1981

Awarded 5th Dan 1996

International Referee and Grading Panellist

 

He has taught, graded, or refereed in Italy, France, South Africa, Germany, Luxembourg, Holland, and Ireland.

Was asked to help develop Iaido and Jodo in the Czech Republic in 1995, since then has led seminars three times a year up to the present time. He was recently awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Czech Kendo Federation for his services to Iaido and Jodo in that country. He has also conducted seminars in Slovakia and Hungary for the past two years.

 

Cook Sensei has visited Japan on numerous occasions for both study, and to sit the majority of his examinations

 

Sensei will be accompanied to our Seminar by his wife. Mrs Cook holds 5th Dan in Iaido and 3rd Dan in Jodo.
