So, who on earth am I ? It's a fair question seeing as I'm inflicting my web site upon you. Here's a quick resumé. My name is Iain Plank and I was born on 2-Apr-1969 in Rochester in the south east of the England. I grew up in Rochester and at 18 went to college at the Poly of Wales (now the University of Glamorgan) in Pontypridd, Wales where I did a BSc (Hons) in Computer Studies. For the industrial placement part of my degree I worked at CERN in Geneva where I wrote software for LEP the worlds largest Partical accelerator. |

After college I worked as a contractor for a
couple of small companies in Rochester and in April '93 started
working for Toshiba
Electronics in Camberley, Surrey as a PC software developer.
After few months my time became split between the UK and Toshiba
Electonics' European HQ in Duesseldorf, Germany.
In May '95 I moved to Germany on a full time basis where I led the Client
Server Development Team which wrote Windows applications for Toshiba Electronics
throughout Europe.
My interests include Scuba Diving (I'm a PADI Instructor and IANTD Advanced Nitrox Diver), Skiing / Snowboarding, Sky Diving, Mountain Biking, general sporty things really, as well as reading, photography, drinking etc.
In December '98 it felt like the right time to give everything up and to fulfil my dream of going travelling...... Lucky ? Maybe, but then again sometimes you have to make your own luck !!
After returning from travelling I found a job in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, with Logica (now LogicaCMG) as a Technical Project Manager and that is where I currently am. I travel when I can and have added subsequent trips to this website for anyone that is interested.
I hope that you enjoy the site and find it useful and that it inspires you to leave your "comfort-zone" and to experience something truely amazing.
Take care,
Iain
