Links & Drinks 2007 Golf League

Thursday Nights- starting April 26th

Boulder Creek-5:00 SHARP!

RULES Same as ‘06*

·         “Winter rules” apply, but no more than one GRIP length.  Cannot apply the GRIP rule to move your ball from a bunker, rough, OB, fringe-to-green, etc.

·         No stroke and distance penalties.  i.e.  If a ball is hit OB or into a hazard, you do not have to replay your shot from the same spot.  With a one-stroke penalty, the next shot can be played within two club lengths of the hazard or OB, or anywhere along the flight path of the ball, but no closer to the hole.

·         NOTE: Locate all OB’s at Boulder Creek and play them to the rules!

·         No Gimme’s unless the opposing team concedes the putt.

·         A hole-in-one earns that player $5 additional per man, and the privilege of spending part of this money on one round of drinks for all players.

HANDICAP SYSTEM *Same as ‘06*

·         We will start this season using your handicap from last season, or from your first night.  We will keep the rolling 6-week for current league members, taking the lowest 4 scores over that time period. For new members we will build your handicap weekly. Week 1 will be figured on any past scores at North Kent last year plus your week 1 score. Week 2 handicap will be the average of your week 1 score and any 4 previous scores if that many are available.  Week 3 handicap will be the average of your 2002 average score and week 1 and week 2 scores, etc.

·         Handicaps for subsequent weeks will be calculated as a 6-week rolling handicap.  Example: after week 7, your score from week 1 will be dropped and the lowest 4 scores out of 6 total will be used.  This will better reflect your current level of play and potential throughout the season.

·         Handicaps are calculated as 95% of the difference between your average score and par, and carried out to the 1/10th decimal place.

·         Maximum handicap is 18.

SCORING – *Same as ‘06*

·         Two-man teams play for a total of 40 points per match.

·         The low handicap player on one team is matched against the low handicap player on the opposing team, and similarly for the high-handicappers.  If both players on a team have the same handicap, they can match up any way they choose.

·         Each player completes against his opponent for a total of 18 points per match (2 pts/hole).  If a player wins a hole with handicaps applied accordingly, he receives 2 points and his opponent receives zero.  If there is a tie, both players receive one point each.

·         To determine how many individual strokes are to be given in a match, subtract the lower handicap from the higher including the decimal point.  The difference is rounded up or down and applied to the hardest handicap holes.

·         The remaining 4 points are awarded to the team with the lowest combined net score (team combined net score = combined gross scores less combined handicaps rounded to the nearest whole number).  In the event of a tie, both teams receive two points.

SUBSTITUTION – *Same as ‘06*

In the event that you cannot attend one week, you have two options:

1.       Get a sub to fill in for you.  If the sub does not have an established handicap, the handicap will be established that week.  If the sub has a previously established handicap from the 2006 league, that handicap will be applied accordingly.  The handicap must be established from this league in 2003 season.

2.      If you cannot get a sub, your partner may play against both players on the opposing team using the same scoring system.

TEAM FORFEITS *Same as ‘06*

·         When neither member of a team shows up for a match and prior arrangements have not been agreed upon, the forfeiting team receives no points.  The opponent plays against the forfeiting player's predetermined penalized score on a hole-to-hole basis and earns points only for those holes he wins or ties.

3.      To calculate the predetermined penalized score, assess a 2-stroke penalty to the average score of each member of the forfeiting team.  Subtract the penalized average from par 35 and add strokes hole-by-hole based on the highest handicap holes.
