Welcome To The World Of Ian

This page is dedicated to the people of Opel Polska Receiving Inspection Department. Altogether I have spent more than one year working in Poland. My second spell was definitely the best. I had the opportunity to work alongside some really good people and get to know them all. Potential language difficulties were thwarted by 3 fantastic translators; Daniel, Ania and Monika. On the following pictures I was going to include names but due to my total lack of Polish name spelling knowledge I thought better of it, so as not to appear stupid or offend my Polish friends.

Above is an aerial view of Opel Polska, Gliwice, Poland. I was located in the top right hand corner of the picture. It is known as G70 (Gliwice building 70) Here in Thailand the layout is almost exactly the same but the organisation is defintitely inferior. I have to give some credit to my friend Paul as I stole this picture from his web page, if you want to check it here's a link: http://oocities.com/paulrosi/  (make sure you come back though)

Pictured above is me and Andrzej. At the risk of offending everybody else I have named him because he deserves a special mention. He helped me a lot and I will be forever grateful. Andzrej is a Ruch Chorzow fan. I  went to see them play against GKS Katowice during my first time in Poland. This the first Opel Agila production vehicle to be built in Opel Polska. It came off the line at 14:30 on Wednesday 16th February. It was a bitter sweet moment for me, it meant my job was finished but it also meant I had to say goodbye to my good friends.

I saved one "Bloke" to the end. This is Casey, he is from North America, but actually he's OK!! (Only joking Case) We'd spend a lot of time putting the world to rights. He's a bit of a sage and knows a lot about life, the world and the people on it. He is rather cosmopolitan with Irish and American Indian blood coursing through his veins. We shared a few trips out together, Wroclaw, Krakow, Pizza Hut, Greek restaurant, shopping.......

This summer he will make a pilgrimage to the fair city of Dublin. If I am home at the time he's promised to drop in and say "hello". His only flaw is his English language skills, you know the sort of thing I mean "Garazsh" instead of garage, process instead of prOcess, keep practicing Casey!

So there it is. This page can never do justice to the hard work and commitment that these people showed over the last 7 months. I could never thank them enough for the support they gave me during the difficult times (and there were lots of difficult times) I just hope they don't mind me including them on my web pages.
