ground.
Dear ACFEST,
Well I hope you appreciate this message , I'm e.mailing you from the Afrikan Society @UEL, and to be quite frank, we have not be very please about the way Acfest has been run in the pass couple of years, our understanding of the ACFEST was that it's a cultural day were people of Afrikan descent come together and participate in Sports and Cultural events. Well apart from the sports that was o.k, there were hardly anything to do with our cultures as Afrikan(blacks) people from different parts of the world and also living in Uk.
Please don't get my motives wrong , I do understand that it is easier to criticize from my stand point i.e being a consumer!!!!, but what i'm really try to let you see is that "as a people, we can do a lot more better", we have a lot of issues to tackle and deal with in our communities relating to different type of topics and issues affecting us..
1.Afrikan(Blacks) people and mental health in U.k.
2.The representation of Afrikan(Blacks) people in the media in u.k.
3.Job prospect and Business opportunities for our students etc.
4. Cultural identity and Representation.
I'm not saying that Acfest commitee should take all the issues mention
onboard, but with the amount of networking that we do at acfest we can do better than RAVING ..DON'T GET ME WRONG THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH RAVING but; whilst we are at it lets deal with some of the issues affect us at the same time,so we don't go RAVING MAD. Finally, if we can make it a bit more culturally centred..
If you are serious about change please e.mail me back and i will send you a few suggestions and information on some guest speakers you can invite down to Acfest ,that we have found to be very productive at our university and others located in london....
Thank you for taking your time to read this.....
