Boiled Broccoli Broth is not equal to Quercetin

Gekochte Broccoli Bühre ist nicht gleich Quercetin

Bioflavonoids are a group of low molecular weight plant substances with recognized antioxidant (free radical scavenging) properties. Bioflavonoids are biochemically active substances that accompany vitamin C in plants. There are thousands of different bioflavonoids, which are yellow, red and blue pigments. Free radicals are molecules which are highly "corrosive" to the cells of the body and are believed to be one of the major contributors to the aging process. They are formed as a byproduct of the body's normal chemical processes, particularly of the reaction between oxygen and fat. But also included is the metabolism of polyunsaturated fats.

Bioflavonoids of boiled broccoli broth are one the strongest anti-prostatitis and anti-urogenital tract infections agent known. Broccoli contains also quercetin. Quercetin(*) is also a bioflavonoid. But, only the quercetin is not sufficiently effective against prostatitis and bph and uro genital tract infections. Boiled Broccoli Broth (BBB) contains many kinds of ingridients (diffrent kinds of bioflavonoids) which are  responsible for the therapeutical effects on prostatitis, bph and uro genital infections. I suggest the BBB Treatment also for females which has the chronic uro genital infections.

The best plant sources of bioflavonoids are the pulp and white core that run through the center of citrus fruits; green peppers, broccoli, especially the white pulpy parts; buckwheat, apricots, black currants, cherries, grapes, lemons, limes, oranges, prunes, and rose hips.

Bioflavonoids perform many useful functions in the human body. For example, they act as an antioxidant to protect the body's vitamin C; prevent or hasten the healing of bruiese; reduce the danger of capillary fargility and resulting leakage of blood and other body fluids from blood vessels; and help to prevent spontaneous abortions. Bioflavonoids also act as an anti-allergy preparation; increase immune system activation, guard against capillary degeneration and declining sight or blindness in diabetics; reduce high blood pressure; and contribute to more control of schizophrenia.

Until 1968, many doctors were prescribing Bioflavonoids . Then in 1968, the FDA, relying on a review of literature conducted by a panel of the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council, withdraw the bioflavonoid drugs from the marketplace, declaring that they were ineffective in humans "for any condition". That FDA directive stopped physicians from prescribing Bioflavonoids, But did nothing to prevent consumers from purchasing them in health-food stores, usually in combination with vitamin C.

Now we are seeing a true resurgence in interest in the Bioflavonoids. An abstract of a review article in the publication, "Trends in Pharmacological Sciences" says..."Naturally occurring flavonoids have potent anti-allergy , anti-inflammatory and anti-viral activity. Since they are common dietary constituents, the question arises: are they natural biological response modifiers?" What has happened in that despite all the controversy, there were always a few scientists who kept on studying the flavonoids.

My prostatitis recently returned so I began the Brocolli treatment about 10 days ago.  It has given me significant relief in those 10 days.  However, after about 7 days I could feel the pains I would get from the quercetin, although not very extreme.  I have continued the BT and the Quercetin related pains have subsided.  However, I am experiencing the dry and burning eyes symptoms once more. I assume they are from the Quercetin in the Broccolli.

Have you ever heard of anything like this?  Do you have any idea why Quercetin would cause pain in the connective tissues or dry/burning eyes? Can I skip every other day and still get benefits from the BT?

Thank you very very much for your time.

My answer: Daily usage of pure bioflavonoids in pillform (like quercetin, hesperedin and others) can causes different kinds of side effects, like Mr. Joe Trattner has. Because, pure bioflavonoids (pill forms) don't contains the mediators, phytohormons and other compounds, which boiled broccoli broth contains. pure bioflavonoids cannot work so well. Because, in pure bioflavonoids is still missing the mediatoren, vasodilatoren, phytohormons, vitamins and further antibiotic working substances.

**) By definition, Bioflavonoids are any of a group of colored substances found in many fruits, and essential for the absorption and processing of vitamin-C. These substances are not vitamins, per se, but, were dubbed "vitamin P" by Dr. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, a famed Hungarian researcher. He is one and the same Gyorgyi who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his discovery of vitamin C. It was in the course of isolating vitamin C that he came across the Bioflavonoids. He had a friend with bleeding gums and thought this condition might have something to do with a vitamin C deficiency. He gave the man some of his raw , impure vitamin C, and sure enough the bleeding gums cleared up.

Later on, confronted by a recurrence of bleeding gums, he decided to try again; this time with pure vitamin C, he expected to observe an even more dramatic result. No such luck. The man's gums went right on bleeding. Szent-Gyorgi re-examined his earlier preparation and decided that the effective impurity*** was one of the Bioflavonoids. He then tried these by themselves, and reported that they worked. He named these substances "vitamin P." The Bioflavonoids thus first came into use as primarily as protectors of capillaries, the tiniest blood vessels in the body.
