MBA Admissions

The admission policy provides a framework for the selection of students to the MBA program on a competitive basis of past academic records and performances in the admission test (or equivalent in some cases) plus an interview.

Requirement
The minimum requirement for eligibility to seek admission into the MBA program are a bachelor degree or its equivalent in any field including business, engineering, agriculture or medicine and  7 (seven) points, with no more than one third division in any public examination, calculated as follows:

For applicants with 4 years' bachelor degree in business with CGPA, points will be calculated as follows:

Candidates who have passed at least 5 papers in G.C.E. “O" Level and two papers of "A" level with a bachelor degree may also apply. For such candidates to be eligible to apply the minimum qualifying Grade Point Average (GPA) in "O" & "A" levels are 2.5 and 2.0 respectively. GPAs for "O" level and "A" level are calculated on a 4-point scale (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1) and points are assigned as follows:

For certificates from private or foreign universities equivalence will be determined by the university.

Application procedure
A candidate should apply for written admission test in the prescribed form as available, along with the prospectus and sample test, from Agrani Bank, Carzon Hall Branch, Dhaka University on payment of fee determined by IBA. These can also be obtained by mail from MBA program office by sending a bank draft for the fee drawn in favor of MBA PROGRAM, IBA and a 10"x 8" size self-addressed envelope with postage stamp of Tk 35. The filled-in application form should be submitted to MBA Program Office within dates notified in the press.

Selection
The selection of students for the program is done in two successive stages: 

I.            Candidates are required to take a written admission test of IBA in Mathematics, English and General Aptitude. Students with foreign degrees who have a score of 500 or more in GMAT with minimum 30 percentile in verbal and 50 percentile in quantitative may be exempted from taking the written test. Such candidates with requisite GMAT scores may apply for interviews in prescribed form or apply for the regular admission test.  

II.            Successful candidates of stage I appear at an interview. The final selection of a candidate is made on a weighted score of stages I (written test) and II (interview) results. 

International students
International students may apply for admission provided the individual fulfils the admission requirements as laid down for the native students. However, the requirement of personal interview may be waived and in that case evaluation of students will done on the basis of written records, academic references, and assignment on writing essays.  

Registration
Applicants, finally accepted for the program, should obtain the prescribed form for admission to the University from the MBA Program Office of the Institute and submit the completed form along with 4 passport size and one stamp sized photograph plus other required documents to IBA within the scheduled time. Candidates who have completed the above formalities must then pay the requisite fees as determined by the IBA. Enrolment in the MBA program are conditional upon completion of all admission formalities including payment of all fees. Selected students with Bachelor Degree from other universities may be required to submit Migration Certificate.  

Candidates who have fulfilled the above-mentioned requirements for admission to the University will be enroled in classes of the Institute. No student shall be eligible for enrolment in the Institute or be permitted to attend any class unless he/she has completed the above-mentioned admission procedures and has paid all the fees.
