The IBA students have shown superior performance in General Knowledge Competitions at the National level. From the 4th to 6th February 2000, two IBA teams participated in the National university level Quiz Competition “ANZ Grindlays Prothom Alo General Knowledge Competition” arranged by BUET Debating Club. The competition aimed at exhibiting the general knowledge excellence of the University students of Bangladesh. There was a total of 30 teams participating in the competition. These include, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology(4 teams), Dhaka University (4 teams), North South University (2 teams), Chittagong University (2 teams), Khulna University (1 team), Rajshahi University (1 team), Independent University of Bangladesh (1 team), Islamic Institute of Technology(1 team), Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Dhaka (1 team), Jaggannath University College(1 team), Bangladesh Medical College(1 team), Darul Ehsan Institute of Business Administration (1 team), Dhaka Medical College (1 team), Shahjalal University (2 teams), East West University (1 team), Jahangir Nagar University (1 team) and of course Institute of Business Administration (2 teams).

The quiz competition was supported financially and logistically by ANZ Grindlays Bank and Prothom Alo. Their assistance was the foundation for the smooth organization and running of it. In the finals, both the sponsors were represented by top level executives of the respective organizations. The competition also enjoyed a wide media coverage. 

Both the teams from IBA went into the final round defeating their opponents in the preliminary, and Winning their respective semi final rounds with remarkable results. The two teams were as follows: 

IBA1- Shantanu Dutta, Mushfique Manzoor, Newaul Khwaja, all from the BBA 4th Batch. 

IBA2- Sheikh Tashfeen Islam, Abdulah Tasfiqul Islam  from BBA 5th Batch and Sayed Muntasir Mamun from BBA 6th Batch.

Even though there was a small mishap on the day of the Final, thanks to N.A..M.  Shafiq Sobhan of BBA 5th Batch and Iqbal Ahmad of MBA 32nd Batch, working as replacement competitors,  IBA1 managed to compete with success in the Final Round. 6 Teams participated in the Final.

Howerver, Sheikh Tashfeen Islam Became the Champion in the Individual Competition.
