Talulah was
placed with us on December 21, 1998 by a Bullie breeder, Rosalyn F.,
in Nova Scotia. She had just had her second litter and was going to be
spayed and Rosalyn wanted to place her in a loving home. We were wanting
another Bullie since ours had died a few years earlier. She had received
her championship at age two and was the #3 Bullie in Canada one year.
Talulah came over on the ferry with a young couple coming to Newfoundland
for Christmas. They said she was a joy to travel with. Talulah was always
cold and wanting to be covered, slept all the time and we discovered that
she had thyroid problems so she was on permanent medication. She was prone
to skin and eye problems but yet a wonderful dog with a super personality.
She started vomiting a year ago and just went downhill from there, going
from the 65 lbs. she came to us at, down to 60 when we got the thyroid regulated and then the day she died she was 42 lbs. having lost 10 lbs.
since September. She was on various medications for "colitis"
related illnesses and IBS symptoms. A week before she died she would stand
in her bed and stare at the wall, unable to lie down. We thought she had
Alzheimer's (dog version) and were contemplating putting her on Anapryl. I
took her to the vet a few days later because she was not eating and seemed
so disoriented and despondent, extremely sad. He took blood work and I
brought her home. The vet called me an hour later and said she was in
acute renal failure and there was only one option. That night John, my 11
year old daughter Alanna and I took her to the vets for her journey to
Rainbow Bridge.
Sleep well
"Great One" Queen Talulah, we will always miss you.
