The Grey Family of Goswould Hall, Thrandeston Suffolk

The following is quoted from a records of research done in the 1960’s.
The Grey family were descended from Walter De Bowyer, a Norman Knight who was granted the land from William the Conqueror.

Tombstones in Thrandeston Church yard

On the N side of the church at the chancel end stood 3 alter tombs to the Rix and Blakeley families. The earliest of these, with several dates from 1697, 1706, etc. have now disappeared entirely, wilst a small marble slab in the outer wall of the church records the following.

VAULTS
OF THE FAMILY OF
JOHN RIX
GENTLEMAN, DIED 1706
AND FRANCESCA HIS WIFE
DAUGHTER OF TIMOTHY GREY GENTLEMAN
OWNERS SUCESSIVELY

On the table slab at the top of this was the inscription
