Interview with Abdullah of Al-Iblis:
1- How did Al-Iblis form, has the band line-up gone through any changes since the beginning?
Hello there Martin! Our band was formed out of the ashes of Buried Glory. I took the post of the guitarist, recruited the then 11 year old drummer boy, and our guitarist then, transferred post to being a bass vocalist. This was in 2002, earlier part of the year. By September of that same year, Our bass vocalist - Limmah decided to quit the band. I personally invited Janistad and the great vocalist i already know in person in the name of Ismail. The former took the bassist slot, and the latter the vokills. I was quite impressed with the output musically.
2- Where do you get the ideas from for your lyrics?
I'm fond of reading news concerning the middle east, especially in the area of eternal religious bloodshed - Yerushalaim. Its there that I get the lyrics.
3- Where would you see your musical influences?
From a lot of death metal bands I acknowledge to be excellent ofcourse, namely: Nile - Claustrophobic Blasting Death Metal; Dying Fetus - Groovy/Brutal; Deicide - Fucking cool; Cannibal Corpse - Equally excellent; Sinister - all time kick ass band; etc....
4- Have you got any new material or something written and possibly ready to be released?
Not at the moment. The band is currently on a stand still, we have yet to find a suitable drummer. Our drummer is now living in the UK, i cannot find a replacement for him yet, there isn't anyone who can equal his precision skin blasting. But I have materials ready for execution.
5- Are the band members involved in any other bands or projects apart from Al-Iblis?
Right now I have a new side band - Hassanal, were into fukkin thrash metal stuff.
6- And what do you do beside playing in a band, can you tell me what non metal hobbies do you have?
Hmmm. I go to the gym, hang out with friends, and do some kinky stuffs once in a while ;-)
7- Are you musulman, do you have any politic feelings, what do you think about the situation of your
country?
No. But I admire the arabic language, arabic culture, and arab music. It has this tinge of antiquity, hearing them speak gives me goosebumps. We all know that great empires evolved from the middle east, namely: Egypt, Assyria - Iraq, Babylon - Iraq, and Persia - Iran. The arabs are the ones who'd survived the deaths of the preceding cultures, this is to say that they may have assimilated some of the characteristics of these great ancient people. Besides, the arabs themselves are people of antiquity. This is the reason we adopted arabic names for the band members. What situation in my country? It has always been like this, full of shit, full of greedy idiots in power.
8- Have you played in live, with which bands would you still want to play?
Yeah, we had a few gigs. I always prefer to join the pack of underground extreme metal musicians. If ever a new drummer comes along, we'll be hitting the ring the sooner the better.
9- What do you know of Peru or Southamerica?
Well, i personally think its closer to Europe than anywhere else, culturally speaking, that is. Dominated by Spanish speaking people, its not surprising. Other than that I have no idea. Also a place filled with nice succulent babes. \m/
10- What do you think about USA, do you think that they can be the safeguard of the world?
I think the USA needs to get rid of their stupid president. What a newbie! He's endangering his country probably without even knowing it. They need to have a brilliant leader in order for them to salvage of whats left of their country's credibility. Where are the fucking Weapons of Mass Destruction? its just fucking stupid.
11- Will you use a gun in a future to why?
I dunno man. =)
12- Any future plan?
Not at the moment. We're still waiting for that damn drummer, but i've heard that our kid drummer will be returning soon, that'll be fucking great!
13- Any last comment?
We'll send you our demo CDR as soon as possible. Thanx for your time! More power to your Killer Zine EXPLOSIONCERBRALZINE and keep bleeding till death overtakes this fucking garbage we know as planet earth!
